Fuck, I hope not. Let them stay inside their tankie circle-jerk.
I wish my instance had client-side blocking available to users though... :(

Oh, i thought that was introduced with v 0.19? And that is what lemm.ee is running on?
Edit: lemmygrad is also not blocked on lemm.ee btw
I can block communities, I can't block instances AFAIK. If I could, I'd block all of Lemmygrad, and Hexbear too.
If i'm not mistaken you should be able to block instances now i have not had a look at it because lemmy.world is still on v 0.18.
edit: so you have a lot bad experiences with lemmygrad users, yeah? Hmm ok.
I'm just not so cool with dealing with people that justify genocide, y'know? Or glorify the USSR and China, while refusing to acknowledge the horrible abuses that happened--and continue to happen in China--under nominally communist governments. Anarchists--that would be people like me--were historically murdered by communist parties and governents as being 'counter-revolutionary'. I can recognize that the US is a cesspool, but the fact that the US is so often on the wrong moral side doesn't mean that the USSR was or China is on the right moral side; both can be wrongin different ways. Lemmygrad (and Hexbear to a large extent) refuse to recognize that.
Yeah i see. I didn't ask because i wanted to read more political discussions, i am just interested in the pigeon community. It's small but seems nice.
I guess i should have read more through the original topic where lemmy.world admins announced the defederation, they say in there somewhere deep in the comments that they would not refederate. At first i only read that they said they'd be blocking now (then) and not wait for client side blocking to be implemented, so i thought i'd ask.
The instance blocking feature you speak of only blocks communities, it won't block users from the instance, it says this right on the change log for 0.19 on join-lemmy.org
Users can now block instances. Similar to community blocks, it means that any posts from communities which are hosted on that instance are hidden. However the block doesnβt affect users from the blocked instance, their posts and comments can still be seen normally in other communities.
So the deep cultural and behavioral problems with these instance aren't solved by this instance blocking implementation like everyone says, it can't be considered a replacement for defederation or moderation. I really hope that people, especially Admins realize this before making decisions to refederate, otherwise it could end badly.
I'm also interested in re-federating with Lemmygrad, speaking for my bot account, [email protected], and the Lemmy.world community I moderate.
I can't understand the lemmy.world admins position on Lemmygrad, Hexbear and Threads/Meta. Lemmy.world has defederated with the first two, but has stated that he wants to stay federated with Meta.
Meta has exploited people's posts to incite genocide ^1 and has been ignoring internal concerns about suicide risks for its users ^2 ^3 incentivized by its engagement algorithms. Meta's greed is more important to Meta than the health of its users, which is a structural and moral problem, at least to me. And let Meta use the posts of lemmy.world users for their greed, or to incite more genocides, or to try to destroy the sanity of more users, or⦠it makes me sick.
But with Lemmygrand and Hexbear, it's only a philosophical or ideological issue between users and, at worst, a style or behavior concern. In any case, it can be easily moderated.
Easily moderated. You think moderation is fun? In like "Hahaha i got another 30 reports of that dude". No, its better not to have the need for moderation. We see some communities are just overwhelmed with reports, and then additionally hexbear and lemmygrad, gotta have 50 mods at the end of the year in some communities.
We tried with hexbear, didnt worked out.
If the same happens with Meta, then they are out too.
