I've been journaling albums and songs I listen to and i realized i can just do it here and force you guys to skim read it. I struggle to listen to this stuff but journaling is a good way to listen critically and be involved while listening.

Ben Webster was a Jazz Saxophonist who played with Duke Ellington. He has a very distinct tone and style. But I don't really like saxophone players so I can't say much about it besides he's a stylist, very breathy and fufufufufu...y .

Oscar Peterson and Ray Brown are some of the best jazz musicians to ever do it. Ed Thigpen left the US and lived in like Denmark/Norway for the rest of his life because they're not as racist and terrible as the US. He also didn't swear and would tell other people to stop when they did.

Two feel upfront, A sections are 8 bars, B sections 8 bars, last A is 8. Normal AABA form. Many jazz songs are 32 bars in an AABA form. A = Melody 1, B = Melody 2.

Ben webster First Chorus:

Ben Webster is not a notey player like Charlie Parker and John Coltrane which I appreciate it. I wish more saxophonist would be banned from listening to Parker and Coltrane and be interested in other musicians.

BW Second Chorus:

Is Oscar Peterson and Ray Brown so amazing that they can make anyone sound good? Ben Websters tone sounds good with Oscar Petersons tone. A lot of old old jazz language.

BW Third Chorus:

Ben Webster has a lot of different colors.

Oscar Peterson first Chorus:

Oscar can throwdown but hes showing restraint. This tune has something bluesy about it, I wish I knew harmony better.

Second Chorus:

First few bars OP is quoting something here, I can't remember what it is. Quartal language in B section.

Ray Brown First Chorus:

He opens with THE ray brown lick. Ed Thigpen might be playing brush on the cymbal for his solo.

Ben Webster/Trade 4 with Ed Thigpen:

B section trade has the classic Ed Thigpen language that I like.

I wish Ray Brown didn't walk over the drum bits.

Second B starts to feel uncomfortable it sounds like they're having a hard time trying to agree to land it back into the head.

Head back in

Ending was a little uncomfortable.

I took it out to clean it like usual, and it took me 4 painful attempts to re-insert. Not taking it out again until it's cured. Back to flushing it with cleanser 3 times a day, I guess.
