I’ll believe it when I see it.

In that case you won't believe it

Chances are this won't happen. But it would be a good distraction to pass a different bill.

Eitherway, this has the makings of a smart political move.

Why does everyone on Lemmy tack on that second half? There's a culture here that there can never be progress, even when there is progress in front of our eyes. It's really dangerous.

It's like r/nothingisreal or whatever tf

It's called pattern recognition

It's just being pragmatic. The chances of a bill like this even making it to a vote are slim to none, considering the current political climate.

The majority of our politicians are beholden to the ultra rich, so they're not going to vote against their own best interests.

I mean, they haven't even raised minimum wage in like 15 years, even though there has been a 45% inflation.

That's not what any of the criticism is. It's that it's not enough and only for optics. Same for every progressive win.

Not sure what the rest of your comments have to do with this thread

Can't wait to see the loopholes that'll be implemented when the bill is finalized.

Great after the Democrats lose control of Congress they have a plan of legislation they would like to pass. Good job

In other related news, the IRS has been heavily auditing wealthy people the last several months and has apparently brought in $20 of tax revenue for each dollar spent on the audits. Maybe if we finally start taxing the rich we won't have to eat them....

Sounds like election year politicking and pandering
