Our Rules:

  1. Keep it civil. We're all people here. Be respectful to one another.

  2. No sexism, racism, homophobia, transphobia or any other flavor of bigotry. I should not need to explain this one.

  3. Must be tumblr related. This one is kind of a given.

  4. Try not to repost anything posted within the past month. Beyond that, go for it. Not everyone is on every site all the time.

  5. No unnecessary negativity. Just because you don't like a thing doesn't mean that you need to spend the entire comment section complaining about said thing. Just downvote and move on.

You weirdly got it right.

At least yours is legitimate slang. The comic is just a bunch of buzzwords in regular sentences.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 9 months ago

At the very least they're used correctly, the author seems to know what those words mean at least.

I thought I had a stroke.

What's a bop? I can't tell if that's actual slang or one of the joke ones like WIFI.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Pretty sure they mean a song (alternatively, "bopper"). Specifically an upbeat one that makes you want to dance.

The context of Limewire points to this too.

Yup, exactly

I genuinely don't understand half the words in this comment
Is this what turning 30 feels like?

Man I'm 23 and don't even know if this is English. Help.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 9 months ago

Smash that like button my rizzy. Bet.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 9 months ago

"Have you streamed this yet?" Is a phrase I've heard real people say when talking directly to a streamer.

I need to know the context of this image.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Farthest back example I could find is this. Apparently it's from a textbook?

[–] [email protected] 9 points 9 months ago (1 children)

I found this sociology textbook that has unquoted similar text. https://online.flipbuilder.com/jeru/zjef/index.html#p=60

I think one book plagiarized the other.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Or it could be a different edition. Is the image supposed to convey that kids use slang? And is that supposed to be some sort of revelation?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 9 months ago

More reasonable and more likely explanation. I wonder if they got rid of the image or added it in a new edition.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 9 months ago

have you skibbidied that fanum tax with your rizz?

How the "smart sciency computer people" in 90's comics and 2000's cartoons talk.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 9 months ago

When I was younger I'd just ramble off a bunch of computer part names and people thought I was the smartest computer nerd in the world. I was like, these are just the parts that make up your computer, dummies.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 9 months ago

This is basically just Skwerl but for "young people who are good with computers" slang

[–] [email protected] 3 points 9 months ago

Honestly sounds a bit like my management :D

[–] [email protected] 2 points 9 months ago

Why can I understand all this
