I don't really have an opinion on this, but it feels really weird. Though elected to the rôle, Pope Leo is one of the world's last absolute monarchs, answerable to no one. Partly because of this the Vatican isn't even in the U.N.

Like I said, no real opinion on it, and I suppose that legally there's no reason to keep an absolute monarch from voting in U.S. elections—it's not like dual citizenship isn't absolutely normal—but it does feel strange somehow to have a monarch vote in a republic's elections.

it's not like dual citizenship isn't absolutely normal

The United States doesn’t recognize dual citizenship. When you’re naturalized, you must give up your citizenship to any other country.

Pope Leo was a US citizen when he was born, but became the head of the Vatican, and therefore gained citizenship there, after. I don’t know whether the Vatican is as strict about giving up other citizenships, but if they are, he’s technically not a US citizen anymore in the eyes of the Vatican, and US government could potentially use this as an excuse to not count his vote.

I’m assuming a lot and making lots of guesses, and I’m probably wrong, but it’s a potential angle, given everything this administration has done.

He's just going to vote the way God tells him to! Lol

Did he vote from St. Peter's Chair?

a ballot for the midterm elections that will decide control of the US Congress.

    I guess so

    The Pope voting...

Will he vote for the party that is in support of the values of Vatican regarding underage sex, that, however, is diametrically opposed to the teachings of Jesus? Or the one that is less distant from Jesus's teachings?

Given literally every single one of this guy's public statement, this is 100% a blue vote. Like, y'all he doesn't hate you as much as you hate him.

I wouldn't say I hate him. He's just a Pope and it feels illogical that a pope would not vote for the party whose main point is enabling important people to have sex with minors.

The Pope's Catholic, after all, isn't he? Why is he not supporting the main hobby of the Catholic clergy?

Do you mean diametrically opposed? I've never heard diagonally opposed used outside of it's literal spatial meaning before.

It sounded kind of funny, but English does a lot of things in funny ways, so I figured that's probably how it's said in English and went with it.

Thanks for the correction, I edited the word to written correctly now :)

I think “post your ballot” should be the new “show your taxes”
