The fate of Tsar Nicholas II comes to mind when I think of wealthy out of touch ruling families.

One of the biggest indicators of whether a country is a fascist country is that other fascists flee to that country.

Eh. This is more an indication that Lulu, specifically, has learned his lessons from his first turn at the Presidency and isn't going to wait around for the Bolsonaros to organize a coup against him.

Look at Columbia or El Salvador or Ecuador or Chile. They all had a turn at Biden tier liberalism, let the fascism feaster under their watch, and then got flipped to reactionary dictatorships in the next cycle.

Lulu got jailed once. He came out stronger and smarter. He's too old to get shoved back into prison again.

Theyre not sending their best. Some are criminals, some are fascists.

What a bunch of garbage all around. If only people stopped electing asshole criminals like him, orange and others around the globe. Stop being idiots and stop electing pos like these. Stop thinking they're "strong" and want to "feel strong" too by proxy or whatever stupid psych bs used as an excuse. Be best!

Well, the US famously don't like immigrants, so I'm sure the fine boys from ICE will sort him out.

    What?

What do you mean it doesn't matter because he's rich?

Well, that's an oddly unprincipled stance to take. So, perfectly good foreign nationals with low net worth will be incarcerated but literally the devil himself would not if he had wealth?

Yes I know who Elon Musk is..

Where is ICE? Trump is right on this one, it is not one of their best.

We've always collected them. The Shah, Batista, Santa Anna, the police chief who executed a prisoner in Saigon, President Thieu, that dumb woman who thought she would get put in power in Venezuela if she gave Trump her Nobel Peace prize.

We almost had Napoleon I too (that would have been pretty cool though)

What other Brazilian would be able to fly here on a questionable passport (seeing as he was ordered to surrender it) with no clear plans to ever go back to Brazil? I promise if he was pregnant they would kick his ass back home after some torture.

A Latin American illegally entering the US on a revoked passport? How much would you bet ICE would cuff him at the airport if he was anyone else?

Criminals used to flee America. Now we're importing them and giving them government jobs. I hate this timeline

It blows my mind just thinking this guy almost won the presidency of the second biggest country of the continent. Two days ago he was voting and lecturing about democracy.

The Dems aren't going to do shit. They'll continue their insider trading and send a few really strongly worded tweets. Then they'll go to his events and invite his family to their personal events. The rich protect the rich.

More info from the similar Guardian article:

Bolsonaro allies told Metrópoles [news outlet] that he would land in Florida on Tuesday afternoon and planned to request political asylum. “The Donald Trump administration has been informed,” the website added.

A US state department spokesperson said Bolsonaro and his family would be granted visas “to allow them entry into the United States.”

Bolsonaro has had Italian citizenship since 2023 and reportedly possesses a passport from the European country.

Lula slammed what he called Bolsonaro’s “shameful” decision to flee. “This is what the family Bolsonaro are like. Brazil is their second homeland. Their first homeland is licking the boots of the US, as he’s become accustomed to doing,” he said at an event celebrating his 81st birthday in Brasília.

Wait until he plays "President in Exile" in the US until Trump installs him back home, Venezuela-style.
