Looking for the vibe, minus the mod, the ability for old posts to rise to the front page, and similar content.

Damn I forgot about tildes. It was the first place I hit up when leaving Reddit a couple years ago. It worked great until I forgot my password and my browser uncached it. I had to jump through so many goddamn hoops to get it reset though. Then I found lemmy and never looked back

If you're willing to pay, metafilter gave me a similar vibe. Here's the first thread (about US politics) I stumbled on that made me wonder what kind of intelligent dimension I had stumbled into.

a reddit clone that's fairly active, but small. the admin personally controls it, there are no mods.

I was on it for a few months before one comment got me drive by banned by the mod because 'you are stupid'.

mod basically bans anyone they don't like and refuses to allow any topic they don't like. and a lot of people there seem to enjoy being under a 'positivity' dictator. it's a fairly culty space and they enjoy jerking themselves off about how sophisticated they are.

Tildes is a pretty small community, so a lot of people are likely to be unfamiliar with it.

For example, I realize it's a small independent platform, but I don't know how I'd characterize the vibe, let alone what about the vibe you liked. Also, what type of content did you like there? If you're more specific about that, maybe people can give you better advice.

I don't see how this post is anything but complaining about being banned from tildes. I don't have much sympathy, sorry.

As far as i can tell, tildes is unique on the internet. It was a little too sleepy for me, but i did like it.

All good communities are necessarily moderated.

Wait is this a post about trying to get an invite to another site like this one? Why not just invite beg on Reddit if so?

Your two comments are not that nice frankly.

Do I say anywhere I want an invite to Tildes? Please read before commenting.
