People came up with the omnipotence idea later. Early stories didn't have him omnipotent. Classic power creep issue.

Yep. The OT makes it clear he's in competition with other gods, though he claims to be the most powerful and worthy of worship.

I've always liked the idea in American Gods. That is, gods come and go, wax and wane in power according to the number of worshippers. Friend and I were stoned and he brought this up. Thought I was the only one! This was about 2 years after the book, but we didn't know the idea existed.

Fun to think about and makes sense of why god is always so desperate for converts.

There was a book series I read back in the 90s that was an alternative history for the Viking invasion of Britain called the Hammer and the Cross that followed this idea as the Viking gods waned and Christianity was on the rise. The gods were as powerful as their believers.

If god is omnipotent, could he microwave a burrito until it’s too hot for him to eat?

God is only omnipotent when trying to convince atheist to join. Once in you find out god is broke AF and needs your money to get anything done.

Plus you also need seed money to give to a traveling preacher who totally isn't grifting you when he says putting your seed money on this blanket will get you a brand new Cadillac just like his.

Don't forget to donate to the antichrist you worked hard to get elected because god can't help the tyrannical cheeto without your money.

I'm curious about what stories? God could have stepped in an made any event go his way, but he let the people involved makes choices.

Don't know all the subplots and short story arcs, but I'm familiar with the big ones. Anyone?

Can't you pick pretty much any story?

If God was all knowing and all powerful, there would be no need for Noah's ark as he would have made people right the first time.

    Iron chariots, baby.

If modern fighting vehicles also count as 'iron chariots' I'm pretty sure we could take God on in a fight and win with any modern army.
