I like my home. It’s quiet and comfortable, I’m surrounded by things and people I like. Unless I have a reason to go out home is where I’d prefer to be.

I too used to go into a LOT of homes every week for many years. As a medic I always took it as an excellent sign if the people I saw were just sitting there. Rather than lying on the floor unresponsive.

    Beyond that...

It's your life, do whatever makes you feel comfortable. If taking quiet time and just sitting and thinking in your home is good enough for you, fuck the haters, keep doing what you're doing.

And what if that includes being a degenerate and playing a game nonstop for four days straight? Asking for a friend.

Completely fine. Unless that game is League of Legends in which case you are pretty much beyond help.

I mean, it depends. If it's just you have the time off and that's how you intend to use it there's no judgment there. However, if it comes from a place of depression and using the game as a dopamine escape hatch, that's not necessarily a good way to handle the depression, but it's still ultimately your choice what to do with your life. Even then, that's not judgment worthy as much as worthy of concern for your friend who may not be doing well.

With serve ADHD, I sometimes need a day to just sit with my eyes closed, limiting stimulus as much as possible, to recover from battery drainage. I don't sleep, but it is a kind of rest.

I peek through a lot of windows each week. You guys would be surprised how many people just sleep in their bed. That's it. That's their life.

I mean what else do you expect me to do, the only reason I even have pants on is because a stranger is in my apt doing something.

I used to do location scouting for films, I was surprised at how many people let me into their house and poke around just from knocking on their door with a clipboard of location agreements.

Also, unless they're going to pay you a lot, don't agree to be a film set, even the best crews scuff floors and dent walls. Shoot days are a frenzy when you're trying to jam stuff into the least amount of days feasible

Man, I was the stand-in/double for Martin Starr during the first season of Tulsa King and we filmed one day at some fancy ass house in OKC that was his characters house in the show, and as I'm sure you know, we couldn't run the house AC or anything like that, and it was hot as fuck that day.

This ladies house smelled, and I mean REEKED of cat piss so bad that even the most seasoned of us were struggling to breathe in that place. I think we were there for about 10 hours and as the stand-in I was of course sitting in position for hours at a time while we got the shots setup and holy fuck it was torture. I remember when we were finally ready for 1st team I told Martin, "I hope you know your lines bro, because you aren't going to want to fuck this up" lol.

I don't know what she got paid for us using the house, but she should've been paying us. They brought in portable AC units to try to help while lighting and shit was setup but it didn't help. At all. I'll never forget that day and neither will any of my 2nd team cohorts lol. How she didn't realize the stink was beyond me. Nose blind is one thing but this place was physically assaulting.

Edit - anyway, my point was her house got seriously fucked up because everyone was rushing to get equipment setup and the flimsy paper taped everywhere didn't do shit to stop the damage we caused lol

No, I don't know. Why couldn't you run the AC?! Especially if you're just setting up shots and not filming?

That's a fair question... You can't use their air conditioning and such because for one, we spend a ton of time getting sound levels setup correctly and noise must be kept to a minimum. Aside from that, when you have a hundred people going in and out of a house for hours and hours, stirring up dust and all manner of shit, you could easily burn up the homeowners unit, costing untold amounts of money on top of the already expensive shoot. It's just too much liability. This is why they bring huge portable units ran through open windows. The house AC would basically run non-stop the entire time in what was 100+ degree weather, which will easily fuck up a consumer AC unit. There's more to it I'm sure, but I was merely a sweat sacrifice for the main actor during setup, but I have no doubt the liabilities involved in onsite shoots is enormous.

Edit - also, we are filming and rehearsing the whole time. It takes a considerable amount of time and effort to make high quality media.

I retired at 38 years old (20 years of military service, plus 100% disability got me there) and I pretty much just sit around my house all day now.

I spent 2 decades traveling the world and experiencing an extremely busy, productive life. Now I just wanna sit in my quiet, countryside home and enjoy some peace.

It's not that I can't get up and out of the house; I'm not that kind of disabled. I just enjoy focusing on myself for once. Investing in my own hobbies, not being at the beck and call of someone else. No deadlines, no alarms every morning, not worrying about making rent this month or feeding myself. It's wonderful.

I never know what to do with myself when I schedule something at my home, and my social anxiety makes me worried that I'm always going to be judged like this. I don't have any work because I took the day off for this service. Do I just fuck off and continue gaming while the person is working?

I umm.. leave my house as infrequently as possible.

But if my dad’s partner wants care long term she can let me move in and split her house in half and..

Leave the basement as infrequently as possible. (But with more chickens)

Jk (?), if I start to take over her property, I’m keeping it. She’s got multiple humans worth of generational income, and the more I have the more I can give to people for free!
