People who get mad at babies being babies are babies.

I was on a flight from São Paulo to Orlando, which is normally 8 hours but take off was delayed by 2 hours. From the moment the doors closed until the moment I got off the plane, a baby was crying about 5 rows behind me absolutely non stop. 10 full hours of screaming bloody murder. I can understand the baby's discomfort but holy fuck

I think more people would tolerate crying babies if they realized those infants are currently experiencing the worst thing in their lives and they have no idea what it is or how to make it better.

I still think they should have family flights. Let the little monsters roar all they want. Everybody wins.

    Sounds expensive so they won’t.

Less people on any given flight.

But aren't the same total number of people flying either way?

If it costs 100 thousand dollars for a flight.

100000 divided by 300 is ~333 per person.

If we take 50 off for family flights then that's 2000 per family ticket or 400 per non family ticket.

Here's a tip for anyone suffering of crying babies on a plane: remember that at least it's not your baby, so you don't have to try to calm him/her down while a bunch of annoyed passengers around you are giving you looks.

If it is your baby, you're out of luck. Gotta just deal with it, I guess.

I remember when my brain flipped from being upset about it to feeling sorry for the parents. It was like after I graduated school and I was like, "wow, those parents can put up with so much"

Anybody that gets upset about this can buy ear plugs and eye masks and stuff. Shits dirt cheap and useful when you're traveling in general in case your hotel or friends place or whatever has issues. I get upset too but like, I don't know what trip they're going on for whatever reason... for all I know it's a death in their family and they can't leave the kid alone ... I prefer to think the best of it and prepare that way.

I mean, literally everyone's out of luck on that airplane and has to deal with it.

Everyone else can put on their ANC headphones. The parent(s) of the baby have to try and calm down the baby. That ought to be fun on an airplane. As a parent I'll tell you that the only way I'd have flown when my kid was still in the crying every time something is wrong phase would've been if there was truly no other option.

If you go on a long flight and don't bring ANC headphones, that's kind of on you.

How about you don't bring kids that young on an airplane?

Literally said that I never did and I suspect no other parent would do it willy-nilly either, so there's almost certainly a good reason. But seriously if you fly without proper headphones you're asking for noise anyway, a baby crying isn't even that much noisier than the airplane itself. You can also just upgrade to first class if you think you're more important than everyone else.

...I did say "literally", this isn't a blame situation.

Modern air travel is already basically no fun for anyone. Everyone's restless, cramped, and inconvenienced. The baby has the usual baby issues that can make it cry plus the same uncomfortable pressure in their ears we all experience without knowing what it is or how to cope, loss of routine, unfamiliar noises and lights, even less opportunities for a diaper change, etc. The parent(s) have to deal with that in addition to themselves, other passengers have to endure extra noise... Again, everyone is less happy in that situation, but the baby can't suck down 4 Bloody Marys and put on headphones to stay zonked for several hours!

Noise cancellation headphones help. Don't even need to play music. Cuts down the plane noise too.

You don't need a time machine to travel forward in time.
