Saxony-Anhalt Gov. Sven Schulze of the Christian Democratic Union criticized the initiative. He noted that the resolution did not mention Russian aggression, even though Russia shells Ukrainian cities daily. Schulze said the AfD and BSW wanted to deprive Ukraine of the ability to defend itself. The state government will decide how to proceed after further discussion.

Get your shit together Germany.

Context for non-germans: "Mann aus Sachsen" aka saxony man is the equivalent to florida man.

This report is borderline disinformation, of the kind Russia likes to boost.

This was a meaningless vote on a matter that this institution has no say over and that us not even supported by the local government. It is jzst the best, Russia's peopke coukd do in the local assembly.

Its purpose is exclusively to spread the headline OP helped spreading.

No, this is literally what Germany did, don't make lame excuses for them like this, nothing is disinformation here.

This is literally what Germany did not do. Have you even read the article? Is media competence that poor already that we even have to debate that? This would explain a lot about our post factual society

This is kindergarten. How old are you? Read that article and try to understand it, form an argument, if you can.

"Germany" did absolutely nothing, its foreign policy is the same as before that consequence free show vote by the Putin block in a single Bundesland which did nothing but create some propaganda headlines for the Russian cause.

I am very aware of that, Germany passed a motion to endorse fascism, ok it has no power today... your point is?

You still fail to even understand that Sachsen-Anhalt is not "Germany". That is like saying that a vote of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta on something that legislature has no competence on is the official policy of Canada, even though the government of Alberta opposes that vote.

    It is mind boggling, really.

No bro, you picked this turn of phrase I used by saying "Germany did" as a conversational simplification and are hyperfocusing on it to try to discredit my point which clearly gets under your skin.

I am well aware Sachsen-Anhalt is not all of Germany.

...and yet this is still at the end of the day something Germany did and German society created, don't try to disown the fascism in your own backyard by minimizing the connection of your identity to it.

That is not hyper focusing, what you are misleading and plain false. Words mean something. Germany's foreign policy is made in Berlin, not in Sachsen-Anhalt. Sachsen- Anhalt does not have a foreign policy and does not make one.

What the legislature of Sachsen-Anhalt was voting has no backing in any other Bundesland. The podition if Germany is actually the opposite. Your disinformation is trying to paint another picture.

So if Alberta's legislature is voting for annexation by the US and the governor of Alberta opposes that, just like the actually competent institutions of Canada, you would write that "Canada" was just calling for being annexed by the US?

In conversation I might say that when talking in an international context, especially when it is indicative of the policies of a political party likely to seize power.

Canada is NOWHERE near as fascist as Germany is however and Canada has never exterminated millions of jews in gas chambers so... it makes the generalization far less fitting.

Wow, so words really don't mean anything to you, when the position of the majority of Canadians AND of the actually competent institutions is the opposite of what you are saying.

The far-right (and far-left) in Europe stands very close to dictatorial regimes like Russia and China, but this decision is meaningless as someone already said. The decision for Ukraine support is made in the German federal government, not in the states.

The message it sends is not, Germany is drowning in cowards.

I really don't see a realistic leftwing association with russia though, of course they exist but russia is violently incompatible with most modern leftist movements what does Putin care about human rights or democratic freedoms?

Putin is just another dictator thug, nothing is leftwing about him, he is like every other powerful rightwing conservative in every single aspect that matters.

BSW also voted for it and they used to be part of the left Linke. In ideology they basically want the GDR back in a lot of ways. Not the ideal Communism, but what the GDR actually was. As in a dictatorship with a strong social welfare system, hard government intervention in the economy. The foreign policy is hardcore pacifist. As in no weapons to Ukraine and anybody else. They also run against refugees.

You find this a lot in the former Easter Block. There is a huge demand for a feeling of safety. Melanchon in France also seems to run on a similar platform.

    huge demand

Yeah, barely even clearing the 5% threshold is "huge demand". Like, when they even can't cut it in a failed state like Sachsen-Anhalt, the threat of BSW is de facto nonexistant. It can't work anyway, like trying to have slightly progressive economy politics and hard right societal politics is a contradiction which can't be really solved.

    Somewhat true, but...

When looking for associations with Putin, why would you look on the left?

This decision has about the same power as if the city council of Hinternschiethausen-Donnerbalkenheim would have made this vote. It's purely symbolic and meaningless.

You mean the party that has made numerous inquiries on matters of state security, including supply routes, for no apparent reason? The party that has essentially permanent representation in Moscow? The party that actively campaigns for voters with a Russian immigration background, to the point of making Russian-language ads? The party that has officially maintained the position that Russia should keep Crimea ever since the first invasion?

Yeah, no surprise they're kissing daddy Putin's feet yet again.

  • For the denizens of .ml, the German political spectrum has just the right party, too: the BSW. A bunch of batshit insane self proclaimed "peace loving" "leftists", conveniently also supported by Russia.

Purely coincidentally those nutjobs voted for that bullshit motion together with the Nazis of the AfD.
