Post one, two, three, a list, whatever. Feeling kind of down lately and when I feel this way I like watching the most terrifying horror films out there. Please help me feel better!

Thanks!

I'm not a horror fan, but I love the final destination movies. (Maybe they are more a comedy than horror)

There is only one true answer to this question, only one true horror film ever made. Don't watch it, but even so I will add the title below -

    Eraserhead.

I mean do you want spooky horror or like real life horror, real life I say Come and See, spooky is really hard to call depending on tastes, but John Carpenters The Thing is both creepy and good, Event Horizon might be a good addition too.

Also, Roar, horrifying in a very unique way

    Exorcist for the mainstream.

    Hereditary for the slightly twisted.

The Sadness for the truly broken souls.

    EDIT: Some honorable mentions:

    • The Dark and the Wicked
    • The Strangers
    • The House That Jack Built
    • Anything else by Lars von Trier
    • The Mist
    • Evil Dead 2016
    • Event Horizon
    • Night/Dawn of the Dead (honestly I like the DotD remake best)
    • The Last of Us

EDIT: Forgot to mention Aterrados and When Evil Lurks

Seconded. I was one of the people that read about it being an anti-censorship statement, and watched it. It's not so much a movie as it is a series of the worst things the director could think of. Whatever anti-censorship message he tried to get across gets lost quick.

It's bad to the point of wasting your time. If you’re still curious, read a synopsis 'cause honestly that's miles better than sitting through the actual movie.

Paranormal Activity and Insidious are pretty good.

The Return of the Living Dead (1985) - old classic teen gang horror zombs

    The Blob (1988) - acidic

Sinister(2012) - biggest heart rate bpm jump increase

The Platform(2019) - good societal critique

I'm not so easily affected by horror movies.

The best horrifying movie recently was Sirat. Definitely a must watch for everyone, a groundbreaking film.

But a stupid movie called the Fall was the toughest watch for me. I guess I'm afraid of heights. It's not very good though.

I stumbled across a neat YouTube channel called ALTER that posts some really excellent horror short films. Check out "Other Side of the Box"
