1938 huh? What an interesting year to have a 100% innocent character arrested "for no reason" by the evil commies. Must just be a crazy coincidence.

I don't know like anything about Soviet history- what's the significance of 1938?

What happened in 1939? I'm sure you can figure out the connection (sorry if this sounds a little condescending, it's not meant to, more of a "don't worry, you already know the answer" kind of way)

The only thing that comes up when I do a websearch is the USSR invading Poland... 😅

Don't mean to assume, but I'm guessing you're American?

The Nazis invaded in 1939. In 1938 the USSR was rapidly preparing for their invasion, which included detecting and rooting out fifth columns or just generally corrupt members of government who would hinder resistance against the nazi invasion. The idea that someone in 1938 would just be some innocent naive victim of crazy commie paranoia is ridiculous, since the nazis were literally trying to push for fifth columnists to cause disarray in the USSR at the time and the USSR was in a desperate race to secure their defenses against the Nazis.

Additionally, with regards to Poland, the western description is usually "evil commies invaded Poland because they're evil and best buds with the Nazis" but in reality, the USSR only went into Poland after their government collapsed and fled, and the Polish government's last decree was to not resist the Soviets. In turn, the territory claimed by the Soviets was itself stolen from the USSR in their earliest days by Poland in an invasion directly after the Russian civil war, when the newly formed USSR wasn't in a position to defend itself.

Lol, thats fine, and its a correct assumption

Thanks for taking the time to explain :) the context around how the USSR was preparing for invasion feels like it gives me a much greater appreciation for the point you were making, thanks!

I look forward to the Poles declaring this film far too sympathetic to the communists.

Starship Troopers is the only film that accurately portrays the liberal/fascist view of communists: as insane disgusting bloodthirsty incoherent swarms of giant insects that attack beautiful innocent people for no reason and deserve only extermination.

As long as you're a propaganist for the ruling class, you're allowed to write the most dogshit art imaginable and all your followers will sing it's praises claim it's fighting against the establishment

calling it now, the main characters in this will be given every right-wing grievance currently in America, and normal people watching it will come to the conclusion that their imprisonment was totally justified.

The movie is going to be released directly to The Daily Wire streaming service, says so on the trailer, so I don't know if normal people will ever watch this movie. The cast being all mainstream actors is what surprises me.

All of The Daily Wire movies are about conservative fantasies, so I think you are correct that it will be written that way.

I would bet that many normal people will end up watching it specifically because of those big name mainstream actors. If it was just unknown actors, I would agree that no one except ultraCHUDs would ever see it. But I'd assume that's exactly why Benny boy et al threw a lot of money at these big name actors, to ensure it would end up being more broadly seen.

Lowe is a founder of the Homeowner's Defense Fund, a Santa Barbara County non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to local control of land-use planning and transparency in government. The average price of tract homes in Santa Barbara in early 2006 was US$1,100,000, which motivated some to propose denser housing on existing lots. While in favor of increasing housing density, Lowe sought to build a 14,260-square-foot (1,325 m2) mansion for himself on an empty lot in Montecito, California. His protest over the appearance of the address of the empty lot in the Santa Barbara News-Press precipitated a mass resignation of senior employees at that newspaper on July 6, 2006.

(This is one of only two paragraphs under the Philanthropy section of his wikipedia page).

TIL Rob Lowe has long been an asshat.

I thought this was well established. When he showed up on Parks and Rec. people talked about how shocking it was then that he came back after some kind of coke meltdown.

I mean he's been doing it for literally 50 years and pretty much always in supporting roles (Wise Blood, notable exception!) so he must have worked for all manner of odious types at this point. Just another day at the office.

I think James Franco was cancelled for something, I don't care enough to look it up. But surely Franco has better options than a Daily Wire movie if he wants to act or needs money.

Hirsch is also a shithead. He came up behind a female executive at a bar, put her in a chokehold, dragged her across a table, then pinned her to the ground with both hands around her neck. All because she disagreement with him earlier on set. And instead of talking about it, decided to assault her when she wasn't even able to see it coming.

For this, Hirsht paid less than $5,000 in fines, spent 2 weeks in jail, and did 40ish hours of community service. Even though this was attempted murder. AFAIK the victim had permanent injuries, too.

So cool you can just randomly try and kill women you don't like in public, just say you're "sorry everyone feels that way" and get a short timeout to think about what you've done (or rather, how this might impact your career).

Makes sense, there is like a ~80% chance that some Hollywood person getting canceled involves SA/pedophile shit.

and 100% if that person is on a daily wire production. seriously it's like their mission statement to rehabilitate people who were canceled for good reason (although I suppose it's also a money-saving measure)
