Russia is not using its own datacenters for fedi when they have unpaid western interns to do it for free.

They're here. Not in the numbers reddit used to have, but they're here. Occasionally we get a good one too. If you find yourself being argued with unreasonably, there's a good chance that's a russian troll. They have a scent.

    .ML users left in shambles.

You know, if they could still access lemmy in general.

Real. I joined it cuz it said it was FOSS focused and run by the creators of Lemmy which I thought was neat. Did not realize it was a tankie cesspool. I’m now banned from a good portion of it for “Nazi apologia” because I said calling Ukraine Nazis was Russian propaganda

Just jump instances. I might have my reservations about how the aversion to monetization means a lot instances are unstable or slow with no real incentives or even funding to improve it but there's certainly something to be said for decentralization.

The BothSidesBad comments have dropped by 70%, even in the thread about how much of a cunt Gavin Newsom is.

If Ukraine is smart they'll flatten as many Russian data centers as possible before the US midterm elections :D

I actually use Yandex for torrents lol.

Edit: Yandex also has the best photo search of any search engine.

Alright, this is getting unfunny now

most likely resulting in slower internet services or complete disruption for the average Russian. Unfortunately, the ordinary Russian wouldn’t be able to use high-speed satellite internet as a backup, as Starlink does not work in Russia,

What the fuck is he talking about. Yandex is not an ISP, it doesnt provide any internet access services to anyone. Its first and foremost a search engine, like google (the crawlers are most likely responsible for most of outgoing traffic, tagged as bot or otherwise), with crapload of affiliated services, like google, including their own payment system, like google, which is causing a lot of pain rn to those who chose to keep all of their savings in it, and their own cloud service, like google, which took down quite a lot of other sites with it, along with disruptions to TV's (yandex OS is running on nearly half of them, like android) as well as, unlike google, taxi and food delivery services that they have near-monopoly on, so those effectively halted in the entire country. But, again, unlike google, they dont offer FTTH, residential or commerical internet access, or anything even remotely like that. What in the fuck's sake satellite internet and starlink has to do with it, idk, thats just plain absolute worst journalism, just writing words without even a pinch of research.

And no, despite of how funny it would've been, there isnt actually any report of reduced troll activity ofher than some weird chart some german politician pulled out of their ass without referencing any source. You can even go to xitter, type "яндекс" into search and find loads of actual Russians mass ratioing those few that chose to defend yandex, as well as their reps themselves trying to calm everyone down. If anything, Russian activity on foreign resources only increased because domestic resources are down.

Very visible on 4chan. Anything that would have been pro-Putin is instead just a blacked/NTR thread from India.
