theyre over there storming the summer palace and im just sitting on a toilet

I wanna point out to everyone that the big room full of sofas is probably supposed to be a majlis, which is a common and normal feature of Arab homes. It's like a big living room where a bunch of people are seated facing one another. But that's the biggest and worst one I've ever seen. Usually they're a U-shape around the edges of a smaller room. This just looks like an airport waiting area. It sucks.
Was this mansion not finished? Or maybe it was vacated very suddenly once the Houthis went to capture it
i would simply not build my mcmansion inside a country at war
why tf is it so plain? money is wasted on the wealthy, goddamnit
There's something about the inside of that place that fills me with a deep unease. There's, like, a sorta spacial uncanniness that all attempts at liminal horror cannot evoke in me.
This is not a place for the living.

Ansar forces have entered the personal residence of Sultan Al-Barakani, the Saudi-backed, self-appointed parliamentary speaker of the exiled regime, in Taiz Governorate.
As ever, the quisling elite live comfortably in sprawling mansions while ordinary Yemenis struggle to make ends meet.
These people have such awful taste. So much architecture to be inspired by only to construct a massive hall with seats
this Yemeni speaker guy was probably planning to partner with Mr. Beast to hold the world's longest game of musical chairs
Yemen communist revolution let's fucking go
Aren't they more of Islamist types?
well, ansarallah/its predecessors aligned with the communist government of south yemen a long time ago. they are fundamentally islamist, yes, but they were also aligned with the communists and agree with many communist ideals. think of it as similar to liberation theology in catholicism. theyre also fundamentally anti-imperialist which is good too. the former communist party liberalized after the collapse of South Yemen but as of the Yemeni civil war, they split into an anti-imperialist communist faction and a pro-imperialist socdem faction. the communist faction supports ansar allah

I wasn't aware of full Yemen's history. But given that main ally is Iran, I don't see much communism going on there
hell of a sitting room. so many seats
But instead of the opulence just the sheer tacky McMansion of it all
