The flared base, which does hold liquid and is not just for looks, and the hollow handle make cleaning these a PITA. I just store pens in it now.

    They just put things back into the replicator without washing them. Otherwise you'd end up with as many cups as tribbles.

    Would've been a neat canon quirk if all replicator-produced dinnerware were edible, but seldom taken advantage of on account of them being hard and bland... like those "which one is cake" videos where they eat shoes and the like.

    No, these were for sale everywhere in the 90s, separate from the show. The idea was you could put your coffee on the dash or on a table in the back of an RV and not have it spill. There was typically a rubber, non-skid bottom.

    Now, they’re nowhere.
