Americans in their own mythology: “Freedom isn’t free, the price of us all owning ar15s to overthrow a tyrannical government is the odd shooting. But at least we are the sentinels looking out for our own liberty”

Americans in reality: “Ok sure, we have a tyrant ruler who is completely above the rule of law. They’re using their private paramilitary to disappear people, enriching themselves at every turn, poisoning the water and polluting the air and generally asset stripping the nation. That much is clear. What am I going to do about it? Well, our plan is to do nothing but wait for four years, let the tyrant do whatever they want in the meantime and then just hope it doesn’t happen again”

it's worse than that, they're saying the usa is about to be torn apart by giant mining machines, the government will massacre them somehow and the reason why they'll get away with it is because the resistance isn't organized enough...

...so naturally they should peacefully protest.

Her name was René Good and is the only reason why I care about ICE. They literally killed a WHITE woman and now it's gone too far! Her name was René Good because I only remember names of white people.

The overwhel majority of liberal don't even turn up to these pathetic "protests". What they do is get mad on the Internet, mostly at leftists, and then go watch Harry Potter again.

You might think these people aren't doing anything, but it takes them a ton of dedication and effort to resist fascism by not gleefully telling those uppity minorities they actually deserve to be in concentration camps because only 94% of them voted for the Democrats in the last election

To the point where they often fail at it

Oh hey! it's that trans guy I dealt with for the trans group in town. They freaked out on me cause I had feelings about what we should do to a literal flag waving nazi house in town in Signal. That was a learning moment.

you should do nothing about the nazi flag house. it should just do that on its own spontaneously in the middle of the night without anyone getting shot

They wanted to do a protest outside the house.... They were baffled when I told them, standing outside doing nothing is the last thing you should do at a nazi house.

Thankfully there is a youth movement around here that I'm not connected to that took care of it.

Recognizing fascism is one thing, I think what can bring them further left is the disillusionment when democrats fail to fix what they rightfully identified as such. ICE was created under Georges Bush Jr. Obama could have abolished it, instead it just kept expanding. Biden had a chance to do it too, when their nature, ideology and potential as a fascist militia had already been brought to light by the first Trump administration, yet he didn't, ICE remained active under Biden. The wall that democrats had been so vocally against during Trump's first campaign not only wasn't dismantled but kept being built.

These aren't, to us, the gravest or deepest examples of the democrat's hypocrisy, of course the global imperialisn and the prison industrial system take precedence, and of course, capitalism itself. But to a young naive democrat, these things already part of a background that they take for granted, of which they may criticise specific excesses but aren't ready to question at their root.

Therefore, it is already a good start for more people to identify specific policies as fascist and be against that fascism. They still have a long way to go, and most will probably never go all the way, but everyone must start somewhere.

the actual fascism in America is not the Trumpian right. It's the neoliberal center, it's the blob, it's 90% of the politicians. Every single one who supports Israel, every single one who supports expanding the military and espionage state. Hyperfixating on Trumpians is a form of Trumpwashing that lets Democrats off the hook for their complicity in the fascist system

These people aren't, for the most part, "identifying fascism" they are engaged still in partisan team politics where the Democrats are the good guys. They are "identifying red team" and effectively doing election sloganeering for the democrats, that's all. They are not comfortable ever going further.

Yes, and that's why I don't speak of identifying fascists individuals or groups, but fascist policies. Because when people whose political awakening was the realization that massively arresting people for suspicion of irregular situation and deporting them is fascism, that waging genocidal wars for profits is fascism that using racist dogwistles in political speeches is fascism, and that their own country isn't immune to fascism, and then when they see that this fascism is perpetuated under democrats, then those of them who were speaking in good faith when they called out Trump may end up drawing the right conclusions.

That's very fair. I wouldn't expect individual action by unorganized individuals to meaningfully resist an actual fascist crackdown, especially in the imperial core with how militarized their police force is.

The meme is mostly poking fun at the disconnect between "if we lose this election it's joever" and "let us do a tiktok dance in inflatable costumes to defeat fascism".

I also really wanted to try to draw this face

Meanwhile, I think if Europe had any spine, we would be massing troops to liberate America.

No, I don't care if they have a billiom rust buckets floating out in the sea, they lost to Iran.

We need to stop this isolationist shit, Americans are dying, fascism is growing.

Meanwhile, I think if Europe had any spine, we would be massing troops to liberate America.

You are talking about the same Europe that did settler-colonial genocide there, and continues to do things like settler-colonial genocide in Palestine, invading Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria, Iran, and so on.

Chances are, Europe would just do more genocide, rather than liberation.

We need to stop this isolationist shit

What "isolationist shit" are you talking about?

What we have is a difference to the question "What should be done?"

Your response to our answer being different to yours is to say we're not committed to seeing it through?

You skipped right over the part about whether we're right or wrong.

You know you should really think more about how you use your own time, because people can use their time in various creative and sometimes entertaining ways. Like for instance here I am wasting your time, by making you read this comment. Purposefully crafted in these couple of minutes it took to notice you and hence after reply to you. yeah-buddy

personally I think it's fine to do this if you see no other viable option either for a lack of an org in your area, fear of political persecution or job loss if you organize, or a myriad other reasons, like fucking being exhausted from a precarized piece of shit job, or something.

Furthermore if you're already organized it's a hell of a good place for agitprop innit?

plus you might get to meet some other leftists in your area and touch grass.

'cept if there's no intent on organizing then it's kinda just spending a weekend at the park surrounded by cops and getting your shit palantir'd

You have to understand though, I really wanted to draw that face. I mean look at it

err uhh I mean fuckin' cringe shitlib boo, BOO! your tactics stink, or something!
