It’s clearly capable of showing me the image that has come through on a message. Sometimes the image comes through blurry. Why?

Because Meta is a bullshit company.

A limitation of the WhatsApp app.

Only Facebook/Meta can resolve that, but they have little interest in doing so.

They have no interest in doing so

This is obvious seeing that Messenger preview appears sharp.

It has been like that for Whatsapp since ages ago..

Just Meta's reluctance to give us a 100% working watch app/notification.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Probably to give you a reason to open the full app, which will give them more new info than just a look at the notification will do.

If you’d like to see the images sent by friends, ask them to use iMessage with you. Apple Watch can show these :) there’s just no way of a workaround for WhatsApp images for now.

WatchChat2 allows images and videos to be seen. And can chat to the top 5 recent in your WhatsApp.

That’s not very helpful if they don’t have any Apple devices.

Its funny since the facebook messenger photos show up without any issues …. Same company…. Probably same dev team to…

Facebook messenger monetises the data it gets from everything you do in it. WhatsApp doesn’t, so Meta has no interest in investing in it.

That’s very funny to me since messenger app can no longer be added to the watch

Didn’t Zuckerberg want to merge all the messaging apps together? Don’t really know how that goes, i wonder if they just don’t put as much resource in WhatsApp now and wait for the merge.

I always thought that was a privacy feature.

There’s a 3rd party WhatsApp that does work but it’s intermittent, the name of the app escapes me tho

WatchChat 2

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Name of the alternative is watchchat

Hey thats how I see without glasses!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Yeah it does this on my watch too! Stickers show up but not pictures

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

It’s cause the watch doesn’t fully support WhatsApp

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Somone send your something rude you’re screwed lol

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Me too on Apple Watch 9

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I use WatchApp for WhatsApp on mw AW.

The free version allows you to open the last 5 chats, you can also send voice message and see the pictures.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Same with WatchChat 2. Can see all the images and videos too

Another reason to not use WhatsApp garbage

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Imagine thinking whatsapp is garbage 😂🤦🏽‍♀️

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

They want you to open WhatsApp on phone to receive more data from you. Geo location and stuff like that.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

That’s because WhatsApp is in no way programmed to work on Apple watch.

The notification you see on your watch is mirrored from the notification on your iPhone lockscreen. That includes the very small preview if there is a photo attached. That’s what gets transferred to and displayed on the watch, just larger and thus blurry.

NSFW images

If it helps i go into the App Store every week to leave a poor review for not having an iPad app and watch app. Is not much. But I like to pretend it helps.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

And the stickers it does show but then on the phone it’s the opposite way around; pictures it’ll show in notification center but with stickers it just shows ‘sticker’. It’s so weird I wish they’d fix that on both the phone and the watch

Probably more likely for privacy. Imagine your friend sends one of those prank photos and you are in a work meeting and people see your watch when you go to check it.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

If that was the case then clicking on it should make it visible but it won’t
