No, but it does cause genital mutilation

[-] Blackfeathr@lemmy.world 52 points 6 days ago

No, but it is still a barbaric practice that needs to end immediately.

Weird how no one ever mentions the ancient Jewish tradition of being the first to suck a baby's penis. But, I guess maybe that's because it's not as nasty as the ancient Jewish tradition of mutilating a baby's penis so he finds masturbation less pleasurable for his entire life, to show their parent's fealty to the god of suffering.

Who the hell thought that it did?

Of course it’s this dumb motherfucker.

Reminds me of this lesson in my middle school biology class where they were talking about cutting the tails off of mice did not cause the mice’s offspring to not have tails. We learned this in middle school.

They are quite famously pro circumcision.

🤔 I'm pretty sure they didn't know what autism was when they invented circumcision.

The zios. Regardless of their "religion".

... so? Female genital mutilation doesn't cause autism either, but we don't use that to make it seem alright.

[-] altphoto@lemmy.today 12 points 6 days ago

Sometimes I walk swinging my arms around as if they were just hanging from my upper torso. I apologize for the lewdness but I don't feel like I should chop them off.

[-] FluidBeef@quokk.au 7 points 6 days ago

Maybe they should just stop all this and check whether nuerodivergent people might possibly have other nuerodivergents in their family.

Hey, my parents were perfectly normal! My dad liked to spend hours in the basement playing with his model train set, just like my grandpa.... Ohh shit.

We're not becoming more aware of neurological differences and diagnosing, we're just becoming less tolerant. Change my view.

[-] BradleyUffner@lemmy.world 5 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

I dunno man, it felt pretty intolerant of people who treated me poorly back when I was just considered "weird", compared to how I'm treated now that I have a known condition. I feel way more accepted now than back before people understood what this all was. Now I have all kinds of tools to help me cope that I never had access to before.

[-] technocrit@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 5 days ago

People were intolerant before you found a socially acceptable label/role. But nothing was actually diagnosed or treated.

[-] mirshafie@europe.pub 2 points 6 days ago

I'm glad it worked out for you!

Laughs indigenouly
Less tolerant? No, the skull crushing machine is just running out of its favorite foods. Welcome to the menu.

[-] technocrit@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 5 days ago

Or maybe even check out social factors and the pseudo-scientific foundations of "mental/behavioral health".

[-] sepi@piefed.social 3 points 5 days ago

Have they tried before birth?

[-] Jankatarch@lemmy.world 6 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

Try it for every condition one by one.

[-] technocrit@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 5 days ago

It's just another form of religious genital mutilation.

No autism conspiracy required to object.

[-] Blackmist@feddit.uk 3 points 6 days ago

People will think anything other than they are undiagnosed and passed it on genetically...

[-] technocrit@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 5 days ago

People will jump to genetic/profitable explanations without any scientific evidence.
