Unlike Gimp (that I appreciate too) Inkscape is an amazing no drama project.

Giimp+Inkscape+Scribus are the freedom trinity that I'll always support.

And if Dia hadn't died it'd be right there.

As you have said, the amount of time the porting took.
A nothing burger to me but it was made pretty clear by others affected by US defaultism that the name is annoying to them.
The main thing: they were sitting on fat by FOSS standards contributions in crypto for years before finally doing something with the money.

I use GIMP, Blender, Inkscape and Scribus. I'm retired so it's just for personal projects now. I've donated to all of them.

I was required to use Adobe products professionally, just because they've become the de facto standard in graphics, as we all know. I much preferred, and used Corel Draw over Illustrator and InDesign. Corel Draw does everything the other two do combined, and because it's integrated, it's more convenient and there are several features that make it superior. Unfortunately, it isn't taught in college courses generally. Whenever I could get a new hire to really try Corel Draw and take the time to learn it, they fucking loved it. I converted three people in my time as a graphic designer.

Some people wish that Inkscape were more like Illustrator, I say they should copy Corel Draw.

I love Inkscape so much today. When moving from Adobe photoshop I went initially to gimp. While gimp is fine. It's not a vector based editor. I knew about Inkscape for dozens of years, yet only in the recent years I finally discovered the power and moving out of my comfort zone.

Anybody who is in the same position as I was. Just move to Inkscape. Especially for logos etc.

i used inkscape for a project recently and was amazed how far it has come since the last time i used it, somewhere around 15-20 years ago. then it was quirky and homely, now it feels pretty professional. i was still able to crash it doing some normalish stuff though, so make sure to save your work often :-)

This place is full of former redditors. We've all been in the situation where someone comments the most deranged, obviously satire thing, you upvote and start playing in on the joke, saying something even more deranged, and they agree with you in an obviously satire back and forth, then you check their comment history and it turns out it was never satire from their side and you were encouraging a flat-earther. As much as the /s and the mOcKiNg CaSe annoy me, I think they're necessary these days.
