If you see a guillotine and immediately assume it’s for you, maybe you should reconsider some life choices. Because the vast majority of people would see a guillotine and go “oh that’s fucking cool” instead of assuming it was there specifically for them.

Because the vast majority of people would see a guillotine and go “oh that’s fucking cool”

They might also go "that's concerning". Most people aren't great fans of violence, so the implication of a violent device might worry them.

But they still wouldn't go "they're coming for me", unless they have a persecution complex and genuinely think someone's out to get them.

Most of the latter group would be wrong.

[-] daannii@lemmy.world 148 points 5 days ago

Why would he assume it was for him? Unless he knows he has done something to warrant it.

When I see a gullotine, it doesn't make me nervous. Cause I know it's not for me.

His reaction is admission of guilt.

[-] MajorasTerribleFate@lemmy.zip 19 points 4 days ago

That assumes he thinks the people are right that his actions warrant consequences. He can be aware it's about him but also think they are wrong about his actions being a problem.

Understanding that people are mad at you isn't the same as accepting guilt, what are you talking about? Like I'm not saying he isn't guilty as sin, but I highly doubt he has that level of self awareness.

To be fair if you have read anything about the guillotine you may realize that it doesn't necessarily matter if it's for you. Once people start using that thing it seems to be like a bag of lays chips.

People do usually get a bit carried away once they start executing during revolutions.

I am aware that happened for the French one.

Weird that so many Nazis were spared though. Only a fraction of them faced any consequences.

But I do recall that the after Germany was defeated , a lot of women sex workers were beaten and abused by their neighbors and called traitors when these women likely had very little say in turning down Nazi clients.

(In occupied countries)

Likewise the business owners in collaboration with Nazis should have been targeted more but instead people went after sex workers.

Beat them. Shaved their heads. Spit on them.

Easier targets.

Towed there by a bike. Fucking legends.

[-] DickFiasco@sh.itjust.works 111 points 5 days ago

The fact that it's being towed by a bicycle makes it all the more better.

If there's anything we can depend upon, it's the Willamette Valley interdiction to meeting corporate greed, and I love it. Represent. I'm there.

Edit: it's a valley and not a velley. My phone is dumb, but apparently you guys get it.

"Suffer not the CEO to live" Exodus 22:18

Something like that, according to LLM translation from the original text. Who am I to question the machine spirit.

LOL! Thank you France for developing an angled blade. Although the horizontal blade may not be a bad idea for the murdering bastards.

[-] Sylvartas@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 4 days ago

Allegedly it was originally horizontal and the angled blade was actually Louis XVI's idea. So, good on him for making his own death less painful I guess

[-] RagingRobot@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago

I'm thinking about making one. It's probably not that hard.

[-] pineapplelover@lemmy.dbzer0.com 37 points 5 days ago

The longer they delay his trial the worse things will get for we poors, and more likely we'll get nullification by jury, or even straight acquittal.

[-] db2@lemmy.world 9 points 4 days ago
