This didn't happen today, but the realization still hits me with a wave of pure cringe whenever I think back on it.

Back in high school (the 90s), I knew a kid named David Barnes. Being a fan of comic books, my brain immediately connected his name to Bucky Barnes—Captain America’s sidekick/The Winter Soldier. So, naturally, I started calling him "Bucky."
