Sometime in 2020, my friend sent me a Venmo with the note “CBT, cock and ball torture” as a joke. I probably paid for his lunch or something like that, but we like putting stupid things in the notes.

Anyway, after I received that note I decided it would be best to set my Venmo transactions to private. Today I found out that changing this setting only applies to all future transactions. For the last 6 years, the first thing people see when they look at my account is “CBT, cock and ball torture”

This only came to my attention because I picked up lunch for coworkers, and my boss was paying me back and said, “You have some interesting transactions.” I was horrified, I had no idea this was there. Every person that has sent me money, my distant aunt that sends me money on my birthday every year, has to have seen this. I have no idea how many people witnessed it.

Thankfully my boss is cool, but I’d rather she didn’t forever associate me with CBT now…

TL;DR: Setting your Venmo account to Private only affects future transactions. “CBT, cock and ball torture” has been at the top of my account page for 6 years
