Not strictly about Ukraine, but more about the collapse of Russia as a result of the war.

Writing this as I'm watching, there are 16+ videos just of Russian cities that still have long lines for gas after this problem was officially "solved". About 28 minutes in.

This shows some of the visible results of failing maintenance in places that don't usually get any coverage.

Russia is surely collapsing or falling apart or whatever you want to call this. Or rather it has been for a while now.
Some of these things did not happen in just 6 months, it is at least a couple of years of zero maintenance, even in Russian cities that are considered relatively rich.

this problem was officially "solved"

From what I know, it was solved for Moscow and Saint-Petersburg. Everywhere else is a disaster.

Russia is surely collapsing or falling apart

Wishful thinking. Russian economy is hell, leadership is satanic, but Russia is not going anywhere anytime soon.

You are right they can continue for a long time yet, but their economy will already take years to recover, even if the war ends today.

At 43 minutes we have an actual crime against humanity, Russia is not harvesting BARLEY! 😱 Barley is for beer, and AFAIK beer is a human right and requirement. Without beer what have we become?

Rules:

  1. No sympathy with the enemy or its collaborators. Russian and North Korean soldiers are fascists committing a genocide. Remember that.

  2. Objective and factual reporting from the battlefield, parliaments, etc. is encouraged, even if it's about bad news for Ukraine.

  3. Insulting Putin and his cronies (Orban, Trump, Musk,...) is absolutely fine but don't use homophobic or similar language against them. Members of the queer community don't deserve to be compared to that scum. Also: Putin disciminates against gay people. If you do as well, you're part of the problem.

  4. Don't insult or use overly harsh language against other commentators.

  5. Don't submit direct links to Twitter/X and Truth Social posts. You may: Post a screenshot + quote, do a full quote and name the author, direct link to a proxy service like xcancel.com, deep link an image embedded in a tweet because Lemmy will cache a copy.

  6. Don't just complain about paywalls. If you encounter one, be a sport and link to an archived version instead. Use Firefox + Cookie AutoDelete + uBlock Origin with the annoyances filters enabled and https://filterlists.com/lists/bypass-paywalls-clean-filter to avoid encountering many in the first place.
