Rumours have it that there’s a new Apple TV 4K coming in the first half of next year. Would it be worth waiting for it or buying now?

Rumor is the new one will have a price cut and be out in the first half of next year, so if you can wait, I would.

What do you want from the next one, to be considering waiting for something that hasn’t even been announced yet? Do you really need one if you’re willing to gamble on something that uncertain?

I’m perfectly happy with my Apple TV 4K 2022 A15 4GB RAM and 128GB storage.

I still use the Apple TV HD (with the first Siri remote) 💪🏽🤪✌🏽

I actually just returned the latest one.

My LGCX ATV app looked better than the Apple TV, for some reason it just wouldn’t get as a good a WiFi signal.

My PS5, Shield and OLED all stream fine but the ATV wouldn’t ever get a good picture

Would love the higher resolution audio but what movies actually “stream” in Dolby True HD or DTS Master audio? I can only get that with my 4k BRD.

Not a lot to look forward to in a refresh, remote seems like it'll stay after the silent USB C update. Faster processor of course, maybe they'll redo pricing again but if anything they'll remove more than the Ethernet port for the cheaper model. Faster processor is always nice, but won't have any real world impact. Add to that there's no guarantee the new models are that close, they tend to release in the fall, I'd buy now personally.

Apple tvs are never worth it.

I bought the first new generation and then the second new generation both had issues with Dolby Atmos, they still do. Moved on to NVIDIA SHIELD Android TV Pro Streaming Media Player. At 200 dollars US it isn't cheap but it's the best out there. Its 4k upscaling cannot be beaten.

I’m in the same boat. IMO if you need one now, go buy one. They are great devices with powerful processors. If you’re happy to use your current set up for another 6 months, then wait. I’m planning to wait.

Might be worth it to wait and see what the reviews are for the new features. If you don’t like the new features you can buy an older model for cheaper.

Honestly since I got the newer version of the 4k box it’s been nothing but issues with connectivity and remote problems, with only temporary workarounds. I have a Roku 4k stream stick that dogs the Apple TV and it was only $30

I would be very surprised if Apple released a new aTV this year too.. if they release one it would be next winter 2024 as earliest..

my nvidia shield (2018 or so) died this weekend so I had to get one. came today and I love it. does what the shield did (kodi > infuse) with home and other extra apple stuff

A lot of the rumors point to a cheaper variant of the Apple TV (like the fire stick) and also another variant that will have a screen and/or speaker like the firecube. They don’t sound that credible to me tho.

There will always be a new one around the corner 🤷‍♂️ if you really want one now then go for it.
