Living in New York and driving a car are practically mutually exclusive experiences. I could see Americans who live outside of walkable cities pulling a Westworld.meme when they see such a thing.
Pete's lost his ability to sling webs a few times and had to take the bus or a cab in a few forms of media I have seen, like the OG live action show and the animated series.
I reccomend checking out the Spiderverse movie trilogy, if you haven't. Idk about a car but there was definitely a motorcycle in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Might have been a car. Did Ben Reilly drive a car?
