We still get medicine with that kind of packaging (EU)

That's an ampule. A chemist created it by putting a chemical in a glass test tube, then heating it with a torch to melt the glass and seal the chemical inside. When you need the chemical, you break the glass. It looks like this chemist used a clamp to make breaking the tip off of the ampule easier, implying the chemical is meant to be poured out.

The ampule could contain anything. The most common chemical to come in such an ampule is iodine, but it's much more common for iodine to be packaged in something else nowadays.

The second most common chemical in ampule is stink bombs, but those are usually much smaller and the tip isn't clamped because the ampule is meant to be be thrown and shattered to release its contents.

tl;dr It's most likely full of harmless disinfectant, but you shouldn't count on it. Give it to professionals who can safely identify it and dispose of it if needed.

I find the top to cleanly closed to have been done in a lab with a blow torch tho it really seems to be factory made

Be careful a glass like that could have anything in it from a stink bomb to a vitamin supplement or something corrosive that could burn your skin or poison you.

Only one way to find out. Hehe

It's an ampoule with probably some kind of pharmaceutical substance inside. Looks a lot like Iodine color-wise (example), but could be something else.

[-] fullsquare@awful.systems 9 points 7 hours ago

if it's that thick, i expect it's some kind of pharmaceutical dissolved in oil. over time oil, like sesame oil, will gum up and darken like this

[-] wezzzy@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 2 hours ago

It seems really runny tho and it makes litle bubbels

[-] rhymeswithduck@sh.itjust.works 1 points 3 hours ago

Looks like a vape cartridge of some kind.

Really bitter kinda like almonds :)

[-] xtools@programming.dev 9 points 6 hours ago

my granma used to have these, i think it's iodine. you'd break the vial and use the liquid to disinfect smaller wounds

[-] wezzzy@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 2 hours ago

Was the vial fully closed?

If English isn't your first language, I never would have guessed. It's better than a lot of adults I know.

And Don't apologize, I guarantee I can't speak your native language this well.

Your English is just fine. It was very easy to understand what you were saying.

I had vitamin D supplements like this

[-] wezzzy@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 2 hours ago

Thats seems kinda idk the word not usefull / aload of work for getting ur vitamins

[-] jdr@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 hours ago

It's super easy, the top snaps off and you drink the magic goo inside

[-] witheyeandclaw@lemmy.world 3 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago)

That is how stink bombs looked when I was a little kid. The liquid was lighter, but exposure to elements could cause a change.

You buy them at the same stores that would sell fake cigarettes that puff or hand buzzers. You are supposed to throw it or drop it and crunch it with your shoe to release a terrible (but temporary) odor. Example

[-] wezzzy@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 2 hours ago

That could very well be it it did seem like it had been packaged cuz of the glue that could also have been a lable tho

Its kinda crazy to give kids glasd to trow around imo weird product :)

[-] witheyeandclaw@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago

It is weird. It's one of those things that are very uncommon now, but waaay back in the day they had no issue with giving them to kids.

[-] ClockworkOtter@lemmy.world 1 points 6 hours ago

If it's dark brown - almost red - could be iron for injection.

[-] wezzzy@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 2 hours ago

Mmmhh rust juice i would expect a litle injection port at the top if this was for injections tho

[-] ClockworkOtter@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

I don't know what happened to my last comment, but this is an ampoule which is a common way of packaging small volumes of drugs. If this is iron it's probably for IM injection, and if it was for IV infusion it would be more likely to come in a vial.

In my experience anyway.

[-] ClockworkOtter@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 1 hour ago)

It's an ampoule. You snap off the top and draw up the contents. Some meds come in vials with a rubber bung, others come in ampoules, and some come in both.

Some forms of iron can be given IM, so this would be drawn up into a 1-2mL syringe and given in the arse (if this is iron). If it was for IV infusion I would be more likely to expect it to come in a vial.

Are their Asian food joints near by? Looks kinda like some soy sauce.

[-] MurrayL@lemmy.world 12 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 7 hours ago)

Soy sauce doesn’t tend to come in sealed glass ampoules.

[-] NeatNit@discuss.tchncs.de 8 points 7 hours ago

The very best asian restaurants get lab-grade soy sauce.

[-] slazer2au@lemmy.world 1 points 6 hours ago

Glass? there is no mention of what the container is made of. The sauce does come in plastic ones though.

[-] wezzzy@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 2 hours ago

It is glass
