People don't use them as trash bags for small trash cans?

[-] Stupidmanager@lemmy.world 2 points 23 hours ago

I ran out of my bags last year, but that was the whole purpose of them

[-] mrgoosmoos@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 day ago

well we did until they made us buy a heavier duty product that takes way more resources to get inside my house

[-] Whats_your_reasoning@lemmy.world 1 points 23 hours ago

I used to, until my state made stores stop giving out plastic bags.

Now I have to buy trash bags. But I go out of my way to buy compostable ones because buying single-use plastic to replace double-used plastic would defeat the point of all of this.

[-] BillyTheKid2@lemmy.ca 20 points 1 day ago

I unironically want them. No more plastic bags where I live, so I'm running on reserve. I only have a few years stockpile left.

[-] SCmSTR@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 1 day ago

I have the new plastic bags, here. The ones that are supposed to replace the old ones, but are just THICC plastic and cost $0.10-$0.50 each. You'd think I'd go "oh wow, more robust, is better!" But it feels so much less guilt free and so not only do I not get them as often, but don't use them because it would be wasteful if I did use them, and they're still a shitty "disposable" plastic bag and not trustworthy for important stuff.

You mean the very thin single use ones? What do you need them for and can't you buy them? Can't you use other kind of bags?

[-] Janx@piefed.social 7 points 1 day ago

can't you buy them

I mean, that's the point; you didn't have to. Never had to think about it, they were just there and free, accumulated from the groceries I brought home. I used them for small trashcan liners and to clean out the cat litterbox.

[-] BillyTheKid2@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 day ago

Yeah I use other bags for other things now. I used cloth for groceries and instead of reusing the grocery bag, now I buy plastic garbage bags...

[-] freebee@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 day ago

I reuse plastic packaging of things I buy for trash. Plastic bag from toilet paper fits the trash can perfectly

[-] SCmSTR@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 1 day ago

Oh hell yeah! They don't make those anymore!

[-] colourlessidea@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 day ago

I upgraded my parent bag to a box, ha

[-] SourDragon@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Hell yeah! I do love me some garbage that has yet to enter a landfill!

If they were checked for holes first, that’s a useful collection.

[-] I_am_10_squirrels@beehaw.org 2 points 22 hours ago

I live life on the edge, I don't check for holes before I pick up the dog doo

[-] adarza@lemmy.ca 9 points 1 day ago

we also have to pull the local supermarket ones out and use them first, because they're made of a different plastic that turns to flakes and powder after a year or two.

Does she have any ziplocks? That's where the real value is.

What horrible 19th century plague do you think the subject of this painting was dying of?

[-] Fmstrat@lemmy.world 2 points 19 hours ago

Her kids singing baby shark just out of frame.

Unfortunately, Wikipedia (French) doesn't provide any information regarding the illness the (already 2 hours dead) woman had been suffering of. If she didn't die from a 17th century disease, it could also be a post partum death.

Tuberculosis

2 is 1, 1 is none.

There should be 2 plastic bags of plastic bags. 1 to hold clean food safe bags, the other to hold non clean bags to line the garbage baskets.

[-] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

Which one, paper or plastic? The good ones, or the small ones, or the regular ones, or the big ones?

[-] pH3ra@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 day ago

"They were never used as I kept forgetting them at home, so to my great-grandchildren I leave this mountain of semi-decomposed disposable bags I never threw away just in case"

[-] MyBrainHurts@piefed.ca 2 points 1 day ago

Wait, then what's she going to use for her coffin?
