Also, if you want to have beer over the Easter weekend, you'd better stock up early. I found out the hard way that Norway takes Easter much more seriously than anyone else earlier this year. Wednesday night, I was thinking about stocking up at the Kiwi next to my hotel for food and drink for the rest of my stay, but thought, "Nah, I'll go first thing in the morning." And that's how I learned the entire city of Oslo basically shuts down from the Thursday before Easter all the way through Sunday. I think there was a 4 hour window on Saturday to hit up Vinmonopolet and grab the rest of your food and beer from the larger shops, and otherwise you were at the mercy of restaurant prices.

I used to think this was the norm everywhere as I live in a very conservative state in Mexico, but I once was visiting monterrey and we were partying until like 4am and then went to a convenience store for more buzz at around 5am or so.

a lot of people are not full blown alcoholics, but alcohol dependents, as if they don't get shit faced, but they need a drink to function in ordinary situations.

I have known people like this. They can't interact without people without alcohol. So at work, at a party, or just getting a coffee... they have to drink. And most stealth way to do this is a nip they can drop in their coffee or whatever. Typically they are not drunk or visible intoxicated, but without drinking they feel anxious and miserable.

it's called Alcohol Use Disorder, or if you go by the alcoholic stages, it's stage 1-2 on that scale.

My favorite is the people who come up with a cup, an energy drink and ask for some shots. On their way in to work. You’re not slick.
