The middle class was destroyed the second Clinton signed the deal with China. It's just been a slow death from there.

But to blame AI is crazy, because the middle class has almost completely disappeared 10 years ago before AI. Middle class is about 10% today, and it was 15% 10 years ago

Left button should say "pay taxes."

They're going all-in on AI because they know they've accumulated too much power and the backlash is coming. They're trying to eliminate the need to keep the poors around for things like labor and security.

more like smashing the right button repeatedly ๐Ÿ˜…

This meme doesn't make sense because "i dont know" is hardly an option for them, seems more like OP doesn't know what to say

[-] surewhynotlem@lemmy.world 7 points 4 hours ago

To me, it means they're not self aware enough to conceive of a second choice.

[-] Polyphilic@lemmy.ca 1 points 3 hours ago

Then it should repeat the options instead of IDK

Yes, but not only that, judging by what is happening in our world, it seems that the course is chosen at the right option, and there is no left one at all, except to deviate a little from the chosen option, deceive people and then act according to the plan lol.

It seems you've entirely missed my point

The alternate button is to divest from AI, so they can profit from sustainable enterprises.

The button likely exists, but that button's profits are infinitesimally smaller than the other button's profits.

are they tho? maybe for a quick buck. there are lots of factors. for example, unemployed ppl can consume less and pay less taxes, which is bad for the economy as a whole and can devalue the invesrments in all companies of a region.

Sustainable business is far less profitable than maximizing profits. The billionaires' goal is self enrichment irrespective of the impact to others. This is why they're not pressing the "small profits, sustainable business button".

there are lots of factors. for example, unemployed ppl can consume less and pay less taxes, which is bad for the economy as a whole and can devalue the invesrments in all companies of a region.

Why does a billionaire care about the holistic outcome when there is enough inside their zero sum game for them to still benefit the most?

[-] baggachipz@sh.itjust.works 1 points 4 hours ago

Hence, effectively no button.

[-] partial_accumen@lemmy.world 3 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago)

Effectively no button to a button presser that is only interested in maximum possible profit (which is the billionaire perspective), but the button absolutely exists and they choose not to press it.
