They run the government. They're bitching about themselves on a podcast.

I don’t know who could possibly be to blame but I know who’s NOT.

…the party with control of all three branches of the federal government including both houses of Congress.

[-] Kevlar21@piefed.social 4 points 4 days ago

Don’t forget the Supreme Court!

[-] Davel23@fedia.io 42 points 4 days ago

That's one of the three branches.

[-] Blibly@lemmy.world 18 points 4 days ago

We're fucking doomed lol

[-] Kevlar21@piefed.social 13 points 4 days ago

Right, judicial. That’s embarrassing.

Vance has presidential ambitions, this is just him trying to win supporters.

[-] LemmyBruceLeeMarvin@lemmy.ml 15 points 4 days ago

Yep. Teeing himself up as anti establishment. Classic. Hope Thiel is his running mate that would be awesome

[-] Mirshe@lemmy.world 9 points 4 days ago

I don't even think it's trying to win electoral support, I think this is him shoring up so that when Trump falls out of his chair finally (either dead or 25th'd), Vance looks like the "reasonable" face of the religious feudal aristocracy that his backers want him to build.

[-] Darkard@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago

Absolutely, and I can see him throwing Trump under the bus to get there when he thinks the tide has turned enough and he's got the MAGAloids on side.

He's not complaining about housing prices. He's selling a risk to other republicans while playing the base.

He's not wrong. He's telling republicans that they've gone too far, and if they don't course correct back to the illusion of a middle class, more voters will look to socialist policy. This is the ping-pong of every civilization.

If the 'priced-out generation' votes for anyone who had anything to do with the Trump administration - if they believe anything Trump's flunkies say - they're stupider than the current diseased crop of MAGAts. Because they've seen these 'leaders' happily going along with Trump, helping themselves to taxpayer's money as though voters had an ATM in their arse. And just because Trump will eventually pop his clogs, it doesn't mean Republicans are gonna suddenly force the corruption genie back in the bottle.

If home prices go down it means current owners lose money

Those current owners do a good job of voting and contributing to political spending

It's hard to see anyone making a real positive change here

[-] Drusas@fedia.io 3 points 3 days ago

They lose net worth, not actual cash-in-the-bank money.

I'm a homeowner; I know that the value of my house mostly only matters if I plan to sell it and for determining how much I have to pay in property taxes and homeowner's insurance. I support housing prices dropping because everyone should be able to own their home, if they want to.

The problem is that our economy treats homes as investments rather than as homes.

[-] dudeface@lemmy.world 14 points 4 days ago

Makes me realise I would never be elected to any office, not that I would want to

When a decent part of to population listens to this shit and continues to support them it is hopeless

That's a real weird response, homie.

[-] comador@lemmy.world 8 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

not if you look at that asshats post history.

[-] jaaake@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

Oh, would you look at that. That's definitely an account that's parroting Russian propaganda.

I always forget that there's differing reasons to hate capitalism.

[-] TankovayaDiviziya@lemmy.world 5 points 4 days ago

Vance is an insecure grifter and yet is pathetically clumsy.

[-] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 4 points 4 days ago

Shady Vance is one weird S.O.B.

[-] SpaceCowboy@lemmy.ca -2 points 3 days ago

Obviously he's trying to distance himself from Trump for when he runs for President. Not sure if it will work and he's a complete weirdo.

But Americans are weird too and he's definitely going to run on antisemitic agenda, it's getting to that point in America's fascist plot-line. He's definitely the kind of weasel that could potentially bring together the white supremacist antisemitic base and the "anti-zionist" crowd into the same tent.
