You have to save them to Peter thiels peep whack shack or flock dispatches a drone to kill you and sell your children to the dialogue jerky supply chain

This is legitimately a very bad thing. People shouldn't have their files on some corporate data extraction server. At this point, corporations essentially count as the government, making this the most dystopian era of human history.

[-] Omgpwnies@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

That's been the case for about as long as corporations have existed.

Not like this

I’m not even that old and OneDrive is fucking god awful

[-] SeeMarkFly@lemmy.ml 37 points 3 days ago

It's just like a virus, it won't go away. Microsoft's built-in virus.

[-] cannedtuna@lemmy.world 29 points 3 days ago

Built-in ransomware.

We’ve stolen your files for you for your convenience, no we didn’t ask.

Also you’re out of space, pay us now or you could lose your files.

You can disable, and remove onedrive. At least you can on my version of windows, since I gutted it out of my PC.

Joke's on them, I can't afford it. ALL the jobs are offshore.

They might be able to sell me some more debt...if the price is good.

Mad Magazine once spoofed the movie Independence Day, in which Jeff Goldbloom's character destroys the alien ship by installing Windows 95 on it.

I've had that magazine taken away from me during class by a teacher trying to teach me about checks and balances in our government.

Mad Magazine #350

[-] DickFiasco@sh.itjust.works 6 points 2 days ago

Well, checks and balances turned out to be a farce, so you probably got a better education from Mad Magazine.

[-] SeeMarkFly@lemmy.ml 3 points 2 days ago

Now isn't that funny. Mad Magazine is a better education than school.

One of them is looking further down the road than the other.

I ran some commands a couple years ago and managed to completely delete one drive lol, it kinda messed with my standard file tree on the desktop tho. I'm glad I did it, my computer is mine.

[-] sartalon@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago

It's how they get access to all your data for scraping.

[-] yermaw@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 days ago

I cant describe the revulsion that this makes me feel.

Is this the same feeling the previous generation felt when they saw us all using these newfangled computers, or is it a justified feeling?

I dont know, but I dont like it.

[-] SaltyIceteaMaker@lemmy.ml 7 points 3 days ago

couldve just kept "cloud" and made a wordplay

[-] cannedtuna@lemmy.world 9 points 3 days ago

It was a reference to someone else’s earlier post with that title, and the copy suffix.

[-] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

At least Google photos won't be syncing with onedrive anymore
