Slightly suspicious that you specified "insect" vomit

[-] toofpic@lemmy.world 19 points 3 days ago

so, "so far" doesn't worry you?

[-] chaogomu@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

Why would it? Are you somehow afraid of something tastier than honey?

Also it almost certainly exists but is likely hard to gather in significant quantities.

Vomit isn't the worst thing. People drink Civet coffee.

[-] funkajunk@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

Just a lil' doodoo

[-] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

It's the tastiest insect vomit they've let the public know about!

"So Far"... But who's going first?

1... 2... 3... NOT IT!

[-] xylol@leminal.space 2 points 2 days ago

I always thought honeydew boba tea was from melon but its just aphid honeydew

[-] LibertyLizard@slrpnk.net 6 points 2 days ago

Wait for real? How do they even collect it?

[-] xylol@leminal.space 8 points 2 days ago

No sadly I guess it is from some melon after more research

This chain was really funny, and it has brightened my day. Thank you.

Very small tweezers and a steady hand

If you are here asking: "Is this a science meme?"

Probably, yes. We use the Dawkins definition of meme: a replicating idea, not just an image macro with a fact on it. A good post here doesn't need to teach you something. It needs to make you ask something: who, what, where, when, and especially why or how.

Science isn't a filing cabinet of facts, it's a conversation. For example, a photo of an eel or other localized wildlife counts because most people never see one, and wonder is the first step of inquiry. A car meme counts if it makes you curious about what's under the bonnet. If you want to talk about something you noticed in the world, chances are someone else wants to talk about it too.

We moderate for vibe, not category. Pruning is light, especially where a post creates interesting discussion. Experimenting is encouraged.

See the pinned paper on Shitposting as Public Pedagogy if you want the academic case for why this works.
