I recently learned that OpenMandriva's president (warning, lunduke link as evidence) has declared the project "non-woke" and "anti-DEI", which has resulted in it attracting a hard right community.

That second link gave me cancer just reading some of that shit.

As little sympathy as I have for these kinds of people, what Davide is accused of doing is still unacceptable. Still, thanks for the additional context. Makes it easy to decide not to touch OpenMandriva in the future.

Really? What the fuck?

TL:DR: A contributor with write access got angry that a friend got kicked from a matrix channel, and this triggers a chain of events, ending in him trying to break the unstable(cooker) version of distribution. No other damage and they are working to restore stuff now.

Yikes. What an asshole. They really should try to press charges; that's not okay.

I hope the Mumble team realise how much risk he poses to their project too. What a way to burn any legacy you might have had, and while he hasn't made a proper statement, for the bits he has said, he doesn't seem apologetic at all.

I feel like the mumble project is really starved for active developers and probably not in a position where they can just yeet out one of the 3 guys that do most of the work there.

From skimming their Matrix chat I got the impression that they handle this as "off-topic" without explicitly defending or condemning it.

I noticed they declined to press charges, but I wish they'd change their minds on that. They really should press charges on the jerk.

Avoid obscure Linux distros

Mandriva/Mandrake might be older than you...

[-] ProdigalFrog@slrpnk.net 8 points 1 day ago

OpenMandriva is now a hard right distro. Mageia is the better option for those who want a successor to Mandrake/Mandriva, though Mageia is struggling to retain an active community and maintainers, I believe.

OpenMandriva is neither of those
