A friend of mine is a surgeon, and he told me he really struggles not to lose his shit when he hears people thanking God after he has been standing on his feet for multiple hours to save someone's life.
I'd just say "you're welcome."
Yea, on top of that, isn't God responsible for creating the problem that needs surgery in the first place? That's like thanking someone for giving you a band aid after they cut you with a knife.
