I was looking to find a new M2 MBA 15in (16/256) when I found this on Amazon. What was surprising was that with AppleCare+ (3 years) added it was only $1438.99 compared to $1499 without it. It states also that it is shipped and sold through Amazon.com. Is there any reason for me to worry or does this seem legit?

But 256gb speed is like hdd

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

receive $400 credit, I was just unsure whether to use that credit and the education discount to get the M2 on the Apple site for $979 as to getting it on Amazon for the $1439 but still getti

Thats pushing it bud lmao. I dont think youve ever owned anything with a hard drive. We're talking 100mbps at best. From what ive seen it still goes to 1800mbps like what?? Weve surely gotten spoiled the last few years with the average drive being a fraction of that speed 5 years ago.

I have M1 Pro 16” 32/1tb if you write to me and I see difference with my buddy 8/256 air m2 13” it’s just annoying

It's not 500Gb/s HDD

but it ain't 3000Gb/s either. Those SSDs are found only on 512GB models and up.

The 256GB/1500 Gb/s transfer speeds will be a device short lived if use it for anything other than surfing, productivity, checking emails.

Lol yes, airs with 256gb has slower disks than 512gb versions

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

Nothing like HDD though.

No, the ram spec at this price range isn’t good enough. Only 8gb.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

I meant M1 Pro

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

Anything with Air sucks

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

oh no, external drives are painful to use and you need 512GB! I would try to find a deal on 16+512 or even 8+512! As long as you only do light office workload/frontend development on 8GB

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

Look up the chrome extension Keepa. It will help you see the historical prices of products being sold on Amazon to see if it actually a deal. I would also compare it to Apple, go build a computer with the same specs there to compare the “normal” price. Also you can look into B&H Photo, they have really good deals sometimes on Macs. That’s how I got a really decked out 14” MacBook Pro

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

Meh without the AppleCare+. The inclusion of AppleCare+ makes it much better.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

16GB 256GB for $1400 lmao. How 16GB and at least 1TB isn’t the standard is beyond me. Pure corrupt practices. Pure corruption.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

I just got a 16" 16gb 1tb Intel i7 with 360 flip for 1.2k cad, the price is insane for apple, like Microsoft surface pro insane but it's for a target market so it makes sense

In regard to OPs question, not really, you can bag 16/512 for that money

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

For that price. I would personally get a renewed M1 Pro. If it’s in not great shape it would be easy to return. But that’s just me.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

It’s not an awful deal, but not one I would entertain, personally. For a similar price you can get an M2 Pro MBP with 16/512, and be able to use two monitors when docked. Regardless of what you decide to get, congratulations on the new laptop!

I'm looking for Apple Macbook Pro 16 Inch 2021 M1 Pro 16GB 1TB. if anyone find please let me know I found for $1690

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

You can get a 16gb with 512 ssd for $240 more at BestBuy. That’s including 3yr AppleCare +

Also, check your trade in value with them.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

256gb is a joke really... if you only need that, then you will probably be fine with a 300~500usd windows laptop

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

Bestbuy is selling the m2 14" MBP with 16gbs of ram and 512 gbs of storage for about the same price

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

Hard drive space too little. Go with 1T or 2T minimum

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

Can you please share the link? I'm also looking to get one.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

Best buy has the 512gb and 16gb ram version for 1450 or 1400 if u have best buy + . And they usually give 25% more for trade in too compared to Apple for old laptop or MacBook .

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

256 gb is basically phone level storage. Pretty shitty deal. Equivalent windows laptop could be had for 400$ but build quality is obviously not aluminum.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

Yes, only because of the RAM

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

This is M1 Pro money tbh

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

Nope. Checkout this deal. M2 Pro with same configuration and same price. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/apple-macbook-pro-14-laptop-m2-pro-chip-16gb-memory-512gb-ssd-space-gray/6455369.p?skuId=6455369

Edit: Better Storage Option Actually. (But, no apple care)

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

For 256gb I wouldn’t pay $1440
