Mesh with 1gbps wired backhaul connection (alien.top)

Hoping for opinions on the best router for a 1gbps wired backhaul, 3-piece setup. Budget about $650. I've looked through the thread and it seems the consensus is for wired AP (why does everyone dislike the word 'mesh'!)

Not very tech savvy and have gone the AP route before with little success. Prefer a setup that allocates the closest node to my devices without much finnicky configuration. Currently looking at ASUS ZenWifi XT8 since it is good for gigabit connections, but have also read that it's not great for a wired backhaul setup.

Would appreciate any inputs & suggestions for mesh models to buy. Thanks!

Probably not the “best” as its a few years old now, but ive been rockin an Asus RT-AX92U setup for a while now and it had great reviews when i got it. No issues, tons of coverage, and great features. I’ still using the stock firmware, but i know it can be better with Merlin, i just havent had the need. Supports 1gb wired backhaul and can have as many nodes as you want. You can get a 2-pack for like $320ish i think? Then just buy a 3rd single and your well within your budget….assuming this router meets your requirements otherwise!
