Today, a grand jury has returned a felony indictment against a defendant, David Hearn, for felony destruction of property, for which he faces 10 years in prison,” Pirro, a Trump appointee, said.

She proceeded to call the destruction of national monuments “one of the most offensive images” she has ever seen.

“This unchecked vandalism and civil disorder turns into criminal behaviour, and that’s why we’re here today,” Pirro said. “They are an affront to the dignity of our shared history.”

One journalist asked Pirro if her decision to seek a felony indictment was influenced by Trump, who wrote on Truth Social that a 10-year prison sentence should “be fully enforced” for any attempted damage to the Reflecting Pool.

“I didn’t charge anything harshly. I charge according to the evidence,” Pirro replied. She argued that Hearn caused damage exceeding $1,000, thereby necessitating a felony charge.

Talking about your insecure corrupt whiney babies. Of course this case won't go anywhere, it'll be thrown out in no time because no evidence at all, which is because the entire complaint is a lie to cover up the incompetence and corruption of trump and his pool buddy.

USA! USA! USA!

I saw that press conference with that drunken bitch barking at everybody.

Go have another glass of wine while you still can, Granny. All they got in Max Security GenPop is Pruno. You'll get used to it.

One of the most offensive images she has ever seen...

We've got people parading around flying Nazi flags, but sure, THIS is the most offensive thing she's seen...

[-] kryptonianCodeMonkey@lemmy.world 16 points 2 days ago

So the damage to the pool already existed, it was widely publicized and many many people were out there observing and touching the water, yet you're claiming this this individual somehow caused $1000+ in damages for touching tbe already peeling paint. Even if he yanked on it and more peeled off (which all indications are that he didn't do that), that would still not constitute new damage since it wouldn't peel unless already damaged before he touched it. So, yeah. Good luck making that stick.

They drove on it with heavy vehicles and an armored vehicle. Before they put the blue rhino liner on the lower liner. They video taped themselves doing it and had a press conference. The blue is coming off where they drove, and they had also just repaired seals inbetween concerte slabs right bwfore the motorcade parade.

That guy won't get in trouble. The president damaged it and video taped himself doing it

[-] Catma@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago

The dudes already in trouble. Like yea he may not be convicted but thats besides the point. The charged individual now has to pay for lawyers to argue this, spend his time in court rather than working if he is employeed, deal with the emotional toll of being federally charged with something and the fear of fines and prison, and god knows what else from dealing with this. I wouldnt doubt some red hat enthusiast is gonna threaten him every day from now until the day he dies.

It is about scaring people into compliance not the outcome of the trial.

Roll the video of trump driving over the uncured paint that never should have been filled with water for 30 days. Fat donnie needs to pay for the damage he did with his own money.

Every cent he has was stolen from us taxpayers though.

[-] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

Take all of his money (and his family's), throw him in prison, and have him work off the cost of this reflecting pool damage at like 17 cents an hour, picking up trash along the highway or cranking out license plates.

[-] bangupjobasusual@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago

He’s going to make millions on this. He’s going to sue everyone, he’s going to write a book, he’s going to have a gofundme, he’s going to be on every podcast, maybe a hawktua coin… he’ll deserve it, but he’s going to be just fine.

[-] SocialMediaRefugee@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

The whole presidency has turned out to be a glorified cash grab.

[-] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 3 points 2 days ago

I can't believe Trump is going to do all that over this one stupid thing...

Oh wait, you mean the guy! Oh yeah, he should definitely rape those MAGA scumbags as hard as possible.

[-] TachyonTele_Esq@piefed.social 24 points 2 days ago

At least seven people, including Hearn, have been arrested on allegations they may have harmed the pool’s blue-painted bottom.

[-] grimpy@lemmy.myserv.one 12 points 2 days ago

it had to be SOMEBODIES’ fault!!!

[-] LordMayor@piefed.social 10 points 2 days ago

“It had to be somebody else’s fault.”

They know it’s somebody’s fault and they know whose fault. Their egos can’t handle it, though.

[-] elucubra@sopuli.xyz 12 points 2 days ago

Didn't Turd vandalize the entire pool?

[-] Eternal192@anarchist.nexus 14 points 2 days ago

Only Trump and his circle of idiots would criminalise fucking algae.
