The BOM's seasonal model, called ACCESS-S, is tipping an all-time record later in the year with a peak warming in excess of 3C above normal, comfortably above the previous post-1900 high of 2.65C from November 1902.

Well that's quite a change from 3 days ago:

Australia is facing an El Niño. Experts say it won't be a 'super' event

Maybe 'experts' need to get their ducks in order before commenting

They have been saying no El Nino declared yet for months. Meanwhile the rest of the scientific community has clearly been becoming very concerned at the early indications in the Pacific. Im not sure if they were just waiting for the local media to notice. For example the recent run of record breaking high winter temperatures. Then it's oh well might as well make it official then?

bom apparently has a higher threshold, america says 0.5 degrees and it’s el nino, bom apparently is 0.8 degrees, but to go from nothing burger to worst one ever, bom needs to work on what they’re communicating
