I am trying to build a collection of online sources from where scouting releases can be easy and up to date with what's happening in the music world right now. Rock and pop? Easy, there's plenty of zines I can browse through. Electronic music? Sure thing. Classical? a bit difficult, but can still find something up to date and interesting to read. Jazz, however, is absurdly niche for online standards. It seems like no one is interested in proposing some form of equivalent to the big online magazines of this age. So, am I missing something? Is there some jazz aficionado here who can help me?

Same question, but also with blues

Yes! Blues is maybe even more difficult. I guess sometimes it gets incorporated into jazz magazines (I'm thinking Downbeat, where there's a blues section), but I really don't know

Probably not the number one source but I like to crawl Presto Music's Jazz homepage from time to time and buy there something. The good thing there is: You can get many albums as FLAC downloads, some even as HiRes-FLAC: http://prestomusic.com/jazz
