wow.. looked at the 'build a quake pc' from that article and saw the same video card my dad showed me he bought for his birthday one year, a matrox mystique video card. we were SO excited about it but couldn't talk about it because my mom would have murdered him.

he spent hours trying to get it to work with our cyrix 6x86 but turned out to ultimately be incompatible.. iirc it was lacking a math co-processor or something. never felt so bummed up to that point in my life.
