They've used facial scanning at park entry for at least the last year and probably a lot longer.

[-] adarza@lemmy.ca 24 points 3 weeks ago

and they've used ~~magicband~~ wristband trackers and rfid ticket cards for over a decade.

I went years ago and when we entered the park, the fucking fingerprinted everyone. Kids, adults, it ddin't matter. I was so pissed, I had no idea.

Fuck that place, their rides are ass and it's overpriced soulless bullshit.

The only thing that seemed to carry the whimsy of the I presume is the original park was some weird thing where there were talking and singing birds. It seemed silly, fun and felt like what the place was supposed to be.

Same, I went in maybe 2015? and had my finger scanned. I’d already bought the tickets in advance online and had an excited preteen with me, what was I going to do, turn around and make her go home? They know you’re not going to say no because they’ve spent billions of dollars convincing every child in your life that it’s the closest thing to going to heaven without dying.

Any corporate anything using CCTV is scanning your face too.

[-] hydrashok@sh.itjust.works 45 points 3 weeks ago

Disneyland now publicly acknowledges it uses face recognition, more like it.

I didn't need more reasons to not go to Disney*, but I'll add this to the pile.

All corporations hate you, but love your money. They'll do whatever they can to minimize you, in order to get at what they want.

I kind of just assume they also collected dna from your poop.

[-] hperrin@lemmy.ca 9 points 3 weeks ago

Lol, no. Don’t be ridiculous. It’s from your coffee cup.

[-] SharkAttak@kbin.melroy.org 1 points 3 weeks ago

With how much food costs there, I'd take it back home.

[-] hperrin@lemmy.ca 12 points 3 weeks ago

They’ve been doing this for years. This is not new at all.

[-] quarkquasar@lemmy.world 5 points 3 weeks ago

They must spend a ton of cash keeping it quiet, because it's the first I've ever heard about it, and I ain't no spring chicken.

[-] hperrin@lemmy.ca 5 points 3 weeks ago

Idk, man. They took my picture the first time I went there on my season ticket two years ago, and I still see that picture on the screen every time I go in. They don’t seem to be keeping it quiet.
