Four months ago, we packed up our family and moved from middle America to New Zealand. It's been amazing, eye-opening, terrifying, beautiful, fascinating, freeing experience. But through it all, I've fallen even more in love with my family.

And I've always been a family sort of guy, but facing this challenge with my wife as a teammate (she's a force of nature!) and seeing my kids take to the new situation and flourish...I love these folks. It's been hard, but they've been not just the reason we did it but also the reason it's been a good experience.

My wife. We've been together since high school. Even when we were different genders. She is super supportive and accepts me for who I am. She loves people and wants to help everyone she can.

My wife!

She is my best friend and funniest person I know.

My ex-wife. I have never loved anyone as much as I loved her. Unfortunately for me she couldn't handle my transition and stopped loving me about the time I started to have a modicum of passing privilege. Being cooped up together during lockdown didn't help either. It's now been longer since we've been apart than we were together, but I still miss her and wish we were still together. But she's remarried, has some kids, and lives halfway across the country so that door is solidly closed.

My wife!

She’s like the second half (better half) of my soul, she makes me feel whole, fulfilled, and complete just being around her. We can talk for hours about everything and nothing, and I have the most joy in life when I’m around her.

She is everything to me and I’m so lucky to have met her!

Blink once if you are really saying the truth (in that case, congratulations!)

Blink twice if you need help.

Thank you, kind lemming!

My husband, of course! We met in high school, and he's put up with me through several mental health issues and a transition. It's been twenty two ish years together now, and he still makes me smile, he supports me, and I just really enjoy his company. I can't imagine facing this world without him, he's my everything.

My high school crush. I’ve since discovered that she has become a hardcore Republican and antivaxxer, so that’s that. She was awesome back in the day, though.

You wouldn't know them, they go to a different school.

For real though, I'm married five years to a person i "dated" (lived with) for seven years. We didn't meet by kismet, we met 26 years ago in middle school and spent five years being friends.

The only thing I love nearly as much as her is our cats and the time we all spend together.

My daughter and my wife. My daughter is the most amazing, caring, wonderful person and I couldn't be more proud of who she is becoming. Every day she brings a smile to my face. My wife because she stands by me, supports me, puts up with me (mostly), and is my lifelong partner. My life would not be what it is today if it wasn't for her by my side.

Not to belittle the love I have for my older daughter, but our youngest girl (of 2) ended up in neonatal ICU at under 2 weeks old for 9 nights.

This almost broke me.

On the way home on (I think the second night) this came on the car radio: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ivKzieP9ZU

9 years latter, it song still brings tears to my eyes - even as I type this and it is playing.

Wow. Thank you for sharing that song.

my ex-husband. we were forced to separate after 7 years because he didn't have legal status in this country and i couldn't sponsor him because gay marriage was still illegal.

he's ten years younger than i, so we was (barely) young enough to start over again with a new husband and now has a family in california. i since then have learned that he was my only chance for my asocial autistic old fat ass to do the same thing meanwhile men still flirt w him because of his genetically inherited abs and movie star quality good looks.

it's been 12 years and i still think of him of him every day; usually more than once.

I'm sorry the world is like this.

don't be, i'm reasonably certain that I'd make a really shitty father. lol
