It was more a parody of "Back In The USA" and "California Girls" than a celebration of the Soviets.

It's not a celebration of Soviets at all. It's a cautionary tale about fascism. And it paints a picture of what it's like for everyday citizens living in a state of fear:
Leave it 'til tomorrow to unpack my case Honey, disconnect the phone ...
You don't know how lucky you are, boys, [I'm] back in the USSR.
I thought waiting to unpack was an indication that they didn't want to waste time, and disconnecting the phone was so that they wouldn't be disturbed? 🤔
I’ve been told my many fediverse users that no actually the USSR was the truly free one, and also currently Russia, and the CPC, and so on. This meme can’t possibly be true.
Don't worry, those dangerous people calling for 'democracy' and 'worker control of the means of production' were actually Nazis, the Soviet Union said so, so it was okay to crush them.
And there are also artists getting murdered for depicting beauty of their homeland, as it could "invoke nationalistic sentiments in population" (see purges of 60's and Volodymyr Ivasiuk too, also absolutely do listen to his music, «Я піду в далекі гори» is an absolute banger).
And also DPRK.
Is there some exaggeration in the mainstream depiction? Probably.
Is it a free country?
