ive been reading this for the past few months. mike davis is a really good writer. this book is insanely depressing.

the statistics around what happened in places like imperially dominated india or china before communism are horrific. all of those lives lost... the sheer barbarism, the cannibalizing of children. all so a few robber barrons could profiteer off price hikes in famine. just the unfathomable evils of imperialism

I read some of his book, planet of slums, for research a looooooong time ago before I was a marxist. I’ve heard that he was a trotskyist.
