I never understood this. I Always found this supposed criticism of architecture under socialism to be...hypocritical? Western city scapes are apocalyptic and completely unimaginative. Not that popular architecture trends are indicative of any given economic model anyway.

Seriously I like brutalist architecture aesthetically just the way it is. Save the art for art stuff, buildings can just be flat sometimes.

I remember reading here that Pyongyang has brightly painted brutalist buildings all around its cityscape.
