Is she feeding the moon ground up starlight?
Oh! Is this how bootlegging works?
Who is the artist?
Remedios Varo, a fantastic surrealist painter: https://www.wikiart.org/en/remedios-varo
I found this painting on that site titled "Star Maker". Interestingly the scrawl that looks like "R J II" that I thought might be the artist's initials isn't in the painting there at all.
(I called it a painting...but maybe it's a print?)
It's an oil painting on fiberboard, and is available in a San Francisco gallery, that has extensive surrealist work, like Leonora Carrington's. Worth a visit if one's in the city.
The thing I like about her work is a lot of it is like here are surreal paintings with deep themes regarding the occult, alchemy and feminism but she also just does a couple of paintings about cats. Cats paradise and sympathy are 2 I know of but I think she has more.
The fern-cats one is great, I think she would have been a wondrous fantasy illustrator.
R. J.? Maybe R. J. II?
don't think that cage is big enough for a full moon
