Israel’s killing of a prominent Lebanese journalist in a double-tap strike has been greeted with international outrage as Lebanon’s prime minister described the attack as a “war crime”.

Amal Khalil, 43, who worked for al-Akhbar newspaper, was buried on Thursday after she was killed in what colleagues described as a sustained attack by Israeli forces. Rescuers attempting to dig her out of the rubble of a building were also targeted and prevented from providing life-saving assistance.

Her death prompted renewed accusations that Israel has a policy of targeting media workers, despite its repeated denials.

Khalil had previously spoken of receiving a threat via an unidentified Israeli phone number that she would be killed if she did not leave southern Lebanon, where she had long been based.

They're not doing anything to stop the atrocities since nakba so it's pretty hollow.

Israelis sure love killing journalists.

Fun comparison to Russia:

As of April 2026, at least 147 media workers have been killed by the Russian Federation in Ukraine since the full-scale invasion in February 2022, according to the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine. The fatalities include 21 journalists killed while performing their duties, 10 killed as civilians, and 116 killed while in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to preliminary investigations by the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) as of April 9, 2026, at least 261 journalists and media workers have been killed in the conflict. The vast majority were killed by the Israeli military in Gaza, with fatalities also reported in Lebanon

This is the deadliest conflict on record for journalists, ever. And since 2025, Israel has been responsible for 2/3 of all journalist killings.

Israelis are absolute monsters, and they won’t hesitate to murder you if you try speak up about it.
