This is the official Lemmy for the r/ReligiousCringe***** subreddit. This is a community about poking fun at the religious fundamentalist's who take their religion a little bit too far. Here you will find religious content that is so outrageous and so cringeworthy that even someone who is mildly religious will cringe.

Historically ( not currently) Catholic were victims of groups like the KKK. It not talked about often and I think that's what they are getting at. Regardless they arent victims of hate crimes often anymore and there is even a Catholic president so doesn't work to well
I read it as "violently religious folks are sad that the rest of the country wants to protect everyone else from their hate". Is it about indignation/victim complex of catholics at not being protected like the folks that religious nuts want to harm?
I completely misready Catholics as cat-holics, like people really obsessed with cats or something
