Hi, a time ago I chose Osidian over Logseq (Don't really remember why) but I always disliked it being proprietary software. Since then my Osidian workflow have become similar to how Logseq works, except for two things and one of them is the exalidraw plugin. My questions are

  • How do whiteboars integrates with the rest of logseq?
  • How do whiteboars handle hiperlinks, iframes and other embeds?
  • How do whiteboars handle imports and exports?
  • Can you use some sorts of templates?
  • Is there a defined future for whiteboars in the db version? I read that they will implement it when they now how to handle it but this is not very explanatory. Will the new implementation be compatible with the old one? Is there new information in the matter?

These are my questions, thanks for reading!

UPDATE: For the record Logseq whiteboards use Tldraw wich save files with the .edn extension while excalidraw uses .excalidraw so while you cannot use logseq whiteboards for excalidraw files directly you can embed excalidraw canvas inside any logseq page and whiteboard and create new ones with the /draw command.

Whiteboards can be linked to and you can paste page links into the whiteboard. So pretty seamless as far as that goes. Ive written script outlines in whiteboard that link to the pages. And there are a lot.

That being said the whiteboard doesn't like to be drawn on more than like 150 paint strokes. I use it more like a place to lay things out with text blocks that I can move around.

Hyperlinks: I can paste them in but they don't seem to be clickable at least when I'm trying on mobile while traveling.

Iframe's: don't think they work. Would be cool though.

Import/export: 🤷 never tried. Can't seem to paste an image, perhaps linking to a page would show the image on the page

Templates: non existent

Whiteboard future: 🤷 I hope they keep it, even though I do t use it too much. It's great to have for those off moments.

Sorry couldn't be more helpful. Let me know if you want me to test something else.

Thank you, that's what I wanted to know. Sadly I just figured out that plugins and themes are not supported in the android app but in logseq DB which doesn't have whiteboards. I guess I'll have to wait or try something else

I wonder if the db version just doesn't have it 'yet'.

I saw a Pull Request where someone tried to re-enable it and fixed major bugs of the implementation in db version at that time, but it was not checked, and it was closed automatically.
